I don’t foresee a 2nd wave of releases happening except Lockett which is a little more complicated.

This tells me that most likely extensions are being worked on for Noah Fant, Nwosu and Geno to further drop the cap hit substantially. DK is another one but I don’t see that as pressing as the other three right now. I bet DK is extended closer to the season.
I think Nwosu is gone too.

Hope not. Hoping for a restructure
Lockett staying will cost around $4 million. Is he worth it for that? Everyone loves Lockett but it's time to let him go. I think they will do it the way they did Baldwin. Retires a hawk but structured so we save the money but doesn't have to pay the team back.

Not to beat a dead horse, but that Dre'mont Jones has got to be one of the worst free agent signings in the last 10 years. (Not counting Jamal Adams because he was technically a trade and a subsequent re-signing, not a FA acquisition.) Thank god there was no more guaranteed money left on his contract. $51 million for 3 years, and very little production.

I think George Fant at $2.7 million isn't bad for a decent backup tackle, if he weren't hurt all the damn time.

We got rid of some dead weight that wasn't going to see much playing time.

I'm just happy we finally got some action from the front office, it was getting kinda boring around here, like watching paint dry.

Why would we extend Geno now? He's under contract and even if he hits FA after this year, nobody's going to give him more than $40M anyway. If we let him play his contract out then we have no dead cap or hard feelings if we decide to move on in 2026 either.

Too bad Mcdonald wasn’t around when the signing happened he would have said “ Hell no” to Jones

The reason to extend him is if we don’t he’s gone after 2025. Who is our QB in 2026? QB prices are only going up. He may be 35 next year but what makes you think a team won’t pay him that much? You may be right but someone just paid Kirk Cousins that much at the same age coming off a major injury.

Our CAP is not good for this year, better for next. But we can still play it right.
