That's all you need to know about what Payton thought of RW.

The fact that the Steeler endorsed video was only four seconds is significant.

Looking at their Forum - Pittsburgh fan is pretty much of the opinion that Tater is better than Pickett and really cheap - so why not. They dont see him as anything more than a bridge. Where that bridge eventually leads.......who knows.

At least I won't be bored I dig watching Russell in the AFC. I'm just hoping at this point MM starts bringing that AFC attitude to the Seahawks.

Russ sucked less in 2023 BECAUSE he had a short leash not only with having to curtail his social media, but by having a qb2 that could (and eventually did) replace him.

The Steelers have now put themselves where Hackett was in 2022.

Disagree. The Donkeys foolishly anointed Russell as their savior, a Peyton-lite. The Steelers know exactly what they're getting and are planning accordingly. Pickett was a bitch-ass baby and wouldn't have been real competition for Russ anyway. The Steelers and Tomlin understand they will run the "Russell Wilson Offense" and are OK with that. Hackett and the Broncos thought they could run the "Aaron Rogers Offense", that relies on timing and going through progressions quickly, with Russ. That's a no-go, as we saw. Sean Payton got better results by putting some restrictions on Mr. Limited and being realistic. The Steelers understand this and now Russell is no longer delusional about LRC and being Mr. Unlimited. Stealers will now be relevant for the rest of Russell's Broncos contract. (Unless Russell bolts for a situation he thinks is better in the next couple years; unlikely IMO.)

I think Russell upgrades the Stealers by at least 2 wins per season over Pickett, due to fewer turnovers and more TDs. So instead of 10-7, maybe 12-5. Maybe division champions, maybe even 1 seed if they get lucky like the Hawks in 2014. For Russell, it's a chance to establish himself as a HOF level QB and be relevant again. He'll be motivated. For the Steelers, a "good" QB who minimizes turnovers, AND, massive contract savings, at $1.2M per season, vs $40M/yr. With that extra $38M of cap, they can afford roughly 5 more quality FAs, including keeping their best players. So add 1-2 more wins on account of that. Pittsburgh now SEEMS to have most of the essential elements for a Seahawks 2013 or 2014 type season, a "good" rookie contract QB with a strong supporting cast. The Ravens and Lamar (and that Ravens D, now minus MM) in the division would seem to be the Steelers toughest obstacle.

Respect for the argument.

The Fields signing proves how wily Tomlin is. Any fantasies Russ had about skipping otas, or bringing his distracting wife and Her son should be put to bed now if Russ has a lick of sense, because if he has a losing record in four weeks or six, it’s probably over for him as a starter, forever.
