What do you think the run to pass ratio should be for this game against the Jets?

I'm thinking the Hawks need to get the run game going but still need to protect their running backs from injury. As fans we don't know exactly how healthy Carson , Hyde or Penny are going to be..

I think if Penny is back they ease him in slowly with 5-6 carries with Carson and Hyde combining for 25 or so carries..

I hope I'm wrong, but hesitancy was one of Penny's early bugaboos, which he was growing out of, but I don't expect coming back from his injury he'll be super assertive early on. I think a few carries to get him into the swing, then Carson and Hyde. If Hyde can be effective, use him up and save Carson. If not, well, doesn't matter. We have to beat a winless team regardless of constraints or it'll be the coaching staff and/or Russ at fault.

30%/70%

If Seattle is going to go do anything in playoffs, they need to get the short pass over the middle working. I would use this game for that purpose.

This approach isn't as glamourous as a 60 yard bomb but, it does move the chains and eats clock. Seahawks need a way to eliminate the 3rd and long down the road.

As you say, the big factor is player health here and so it's hard to say not being privy to that information.

I do think that Penny should get a huge amount of work IF he is actually 100% healthy which seems unlikely. He was looking extremely good before his injury last season and having him back up to full speed would make a huge positive difference for our offense. I would probably give him 25 carries if he received a 100% grade from the medical staff but was just rusty.

60% run - 40% pass

I'd like to see us setup a bruising run game for the playoffs.

Run was the only thing working against the Giants - Jet's are probably going to mimic the 8 deep coverage that's been mentioned - so let's run run run it.

75% run - 25% pass? 1/2 passes rainbow attempts to DK ;)

Then again, why assign a percentage? Let's just do 50/50, and I don't know - maybe ADJUST during the game for what's working and do more of it???? But that's just crazy talk!

They need to do whatever it takes to get the win. Figure out what is working and STICK WITH IT. Who cares if they know what's coming if they cannot stop it?

That's a Holmgren philosophy.

It doesn't matter.

Do what is working and adapt to how the D is playing for once.

Run it every down if it is working, if you're getting stuffed throw the dang check downs and screens etc as an extension of the run game.
