Nah. Darnold is no whiner like Geno. ;)
I just hope Darnold is more efficient in the red zone. If he is the same otherwise but more efficient in the red zone, in addition to our having a more effective running game, we're gonna be in good enough shape we won't have to worry about some frikken 6th tiebreaker.

I wonder whether Milroe could become our Taysom Hill. He would be hard to defend on an RPO from the 5-yd line. I want to see them try it.

Darnold (year 7, first with Vikings) was pretty good in the RZ in ‘24

62 for 88 (70.5%), 395 Yards (4.5 yards/att) 26 TDs to 4 Ints

Compared to Geno (year 12, fifth with Seahawks):

27 for 56 (48.2%), 211 Yards (2.8 Y/A), 10 TDs to 5 Ints.

And I want you stress what is in parenthesis next to the names because Geno had 2-5 off-seasons/training camps/games of building chemistry and familiarity with most of his skills players.

Don’t know if it’s something in his film while he had better stats 18 TDs, 0 Ints in ‘22; 15 to 2 in ‘23 his accuracy nosedives within the RZ (53.9 in ‘22, 43.1 in ‘23, and the 48.2 last season). Not to say it isn’t to be expected but Smith has been one of the most accurate QBs in the league overall and I’m sure his accuracy numbers outside of the RZ are in the 70-80%. Just kind of weird that he becomes a different QB in the RZ, you’d almost wished he had turned up his athleticism and run with more authority to negate some of those flaws whether it’s reading defenses or executing on script.

If the Darnold vs Geno debate continues in a thread about Milroe, I’m going to lock it.

Take your Geno vs Darnold debates to a new thread, enough the hijacking

And Darnold had a better year.

Never mind, I'll get called John43 or whatever the hell his name is. :ROFLMAO:
Woah now lol 😂 it was meant in fun lol. .. I think Milroe will learn a good Deal under Sam and I hope Milroe learns enough that he progresses and becomes the 1 QB when Sam’s done

I'll come out and say it: I love the pick, I love Jalen Milroe. I said it before the draft and got some hate, so go ahead and tell me I'm wrong, I can take it.

And I love Milroe not as some gadget player but as QB1, maybe not this year, but soon.

And I can point out a lot of reasons, but for now I just want to point out one thing. These were Lamar Jackson's completion percentages his last three years at Louisville: 54.7%, 56.2% and 59.1%. And Milroe's at Alabama: 58.5%, 65.8% and 64.3%. (Oh, and Sam Darnold's completion percentage his last year at USC? 63.1%)

Russell Wilson’s completion % before he went to Wisconsin. 54.5, 59.3, 58.4.

I still also contend Milroe had zero bonafide elite skill players in his 2 years as the starter. He had solid talent in ‘23 but was basically the entire offense in ‘24.

I’d rather gamble a third on a QB than a first. Milroe is as good a gamble as they come, no matter the round.*

*short of another situation like Mahomes falling late into the first. He really wasn’t much of a gamble.

I am stoked to have a possible future QB on the roster, with his measurables. We have never had a QB with this type of athleticism. It may have been a steep price to pay (3rd round pick), but what about the upside if he does mature and hone his craft over the next year or so, while also getting some opportunities to pressure the opposing defense occasionally. I am ok with it.

We had Me3, remember him? He was a legend, threw a moonball, did helicopter
runs, one read scramble plays to perfection.
Milroe has a giant helmet to fill that Me3 left behind, they have never been the
same since he did everything and carried the whole team on his back.

I was one of the very few in here that advocated for us to take Milroe well before the draft, even said I'd take him late in the 3rd. No, not a shameless self pat on the back, bear with me a bit.
I was also one of the biggest OL bell ringers in here and you don't hear me saying we should have used pick #92 on OLine now do you?

This is only the 3rd QB JS has taken for us and another window such as this may not come around again for a while.
What a great situation for JM to learn from Sam & Drew while Kubiak & Janocko fine tune him. I think our QB room is at a very good place right now, I think our depth with all of our O-weapons is pretty flush with talent because of this draft. No guarantees, but there's a lot to feel good about.

There will be a better QB pool in the upcoming Arch Manning sweepstakes, keep your eye on LaNorris Sellers, So. Carolina. Another dual threat QB who is an inch taller, 15lbs heavier and whose stats are similar to JM, though not as athletic or fast. At this time many have Sellers at a very early ranking of the #4 QB for 26'. It depends on his 25' season, but my point is watch Sellers go in the 1st round and his short/medium accuracy also needs work.

We got a steal with Milroe in the late 3rd and I still can't believe we drafted Zabel, Emmanwori and Arroyo before him... jackpot.
Dual threat, check.
Elite speed & athleticism, check.
Big arm, check.
There is a lot to like about the above but I think Jalen will succeed because he is smart, grounded, humble, mature, a leader, hard working and loves football.

I've heard some say this could be the best Seahawk draft ever. Surely time will tell, but I don't hear too many people jumping in to dispute that statement.
The rookies, undrafted & invites, work them hard and reduce it all down and I think you've got some talent.

It feels like we are a solid RG away from kicking some ass and making some noise in the playoffs. It feels like RW3 & Geno are no longer in our rear view mirror and the sky is the limit.

This was a hard & fast turn-around by JS & MM, this was a masterclass retooling by John.

Many have watched the tape.

But many live in the real world.
You'll be done posting on this board the moment Darnold has moved on to his next team. What grounds do you think you have for insulting fans of a team you didn't even care about three months ago?

I told my students that the draft is basically NFL Christmas and MAN did we get some presents!!

Milroe would have been the one your parents went back to their bedroom to get after you opened up some of the big ones. Then it turned out to be your favorite present ever.

Hope springs eternal for every sports team every off-season, but I sure am excited about our new toys!!

Milroe will be QB1 by ‘27. All-Pro projection.

I absolutely love this pick…I love that he has time to develop and isn’t getting thrown to the wolves like AR (in Indy with a poor O-line).

Milroe is very intelligent. Well spoken. A natural born leader with an incredible upbringing. We all know where his athleticism ranks.

I absolutely love this draft class. I see us getting some great picks once we end up trading away some veterans as some of these rookies ARE going to take their spots. I don’t mean for that to sound negative…we’re in a great position and the future is secured.

I’ve never been this excited after a draft. I’ve haven’t been ‘content’ with our coaching staff since we won the big one.

MM is incredible. Kubiak is going to have this offense rolling.

I didn’t think JS was going to take a QB..I really didn’t. I love that he grabbed the best on the board (imo).

LFG!!!

Sam Darnold could also not hold down the Fort but there is always the chance he becomes The Fort. ;)

Should be an interesting 2025 season.
I agree. There is more evidence that Sam Darnold’s career is turned a corner than there was when Geno became the qb in Seattle. The real cool difference though is darnolds attitude. I see him as a guy that will put it all on the line to win and I see him as the kind of leader that men will also fight alongside of. He will lead by example which is inspiring. He is going to add to the culture here something that we haven’t had in our qb in awhile. He has more Josh Allen in him than geno ever could have.
