With the debut of the Seahawks rivalry uniforms on Thursday night, I wanted to take a moment to highlight the other two jerseys that the team only wore once. (This isn’t to say the rivalry uniforms will only be worn once, but it’ll at least be until next season before they make a second appearance.)

First, are the infamous green jerseys worn in the 9/27/2009 home game against the Bears. Much like the rest of Jim Mora’s single year as our head coach, these are best forgotten about. One interesting bit of history with these jerseys, is that they’re what puts Jon Ryan in the lead as the Seahawk who wore more styles of jersey as a Seahawk than any other player in team history - Reebok blue, white and green to go along with Nike blue, white, wolf grey and action green.

Second, are the often forgotten first throwback jersey’s worn in 1994. For the NFL’s 75th anniversary, the league allowed teams to wear throwback style uniforms which the Seahawks opted to unveil in their 9/18/1994 home game against the Chargers. These jerseys featured blue and green stripes on their sleeve in place of the Seahawks logo which was a nod to their first era of jerseys (1976-1982) which featured stripes instead of the logo in the sleeves. This particular game also marked the first time the team ever played an outdoor home regular season game as they played at University of Washington’s field while the Kingdome underwent repairs for ceiling tiles that had fallen.

Thank you for that. I remember being pumped out of my mind when they wore those throwbacks during the NFL’s 75th anniversary season, while playing at Husky stadium. Fan reaction to that season’s throwbacks led to the Giants and Jets re-adopting their old logos.

I’m going to reveal an unpopular opinion - I really like that green jersey with the blue sleeves.

Of note, those jerseys were paired with unique navy pants with a thin vertical stripe. While we never saw the jersey again, the pants ended up being paired with both our blue and white jerseys for a bunch of games. I think positive reaction to that look is what made it clear that fans didn’t love the Holmgren-era unis, and led to the 2012 revamp.

I don't hate them either and remember being at that game vs Da Bears.

I guess I have an unpopular opinion too, as I really liked the Holmgren era uniforms. I still wear my Hass jersey kinda often.

I didn't mind them , yet looking back they weren't "great". I still have a Hass jersey as well. I think they should've used the white pants with the home jersey more.

Yeah they could have done a better job mixing them up, that's for sure.

Was that also the year they came out with the seahawks safety helmet because of the Kingdome tiles falling on the crowd? I have 2 safety helmets, old school and newer school.

I’ve got an Alexander but won’t even consider wearing it.

That ship sailed with XL
That era is better mostly forgotten for me.
I can still raise my BP if I ponder any of it.

Never realized they did those throwbacks in 1994. Thanks for that tidbit.

I remember being at the game for those green jerseys. Back when I still drank I walked to the gate to have a cigarette at halftime. Asked the security guard where I can smoke and he pointed me right outside the gate. Asked him if I was allowed to renter and he said yes. Stayed within 10-15 feet and talked with both guards the entire time. Once I was done I tried to get back in and they wouldn't let me. Finally someone from my party talked them into it by the end of the 3rd quarter. He was only 15 but I grabbed a bunch of beers for everyone before getting back to my seat and he helped me carry them. Since he was underage and holding beers I got kicked back out again. We lost that game so I guess I didn't miss much.
