he's not allowed back by rule until week 11. He was put on IR-Designated to return which means he is out at least 8 weeks.

isn't it technically 6-8 weeks? So we can see him as early as 6 weeks, same with Harvin he is eligible to play now.

My understanding is they can practice with the team after 6 weeks, but can't be added to the active roster until 8 weeks

I met him last week, he's a nice guy. He was in a walking boot though. Big dude, and he has huge hands.

No he cannot come back before eight games are missed (AKA Week 11). IR Designated to return is different from the PUP list that Percy is on allowing players to come back after six games missed.

This is correct. Harvin was placed on PUP before the season, where Okung was injured and placed on Injured reserved with a designation to return. He can't come back before week 11. Okung's injury was a projected 6-8 week healing time, but the IR rules make it a minimum of 8 weeks, so he could be ready to go as soon as he's eligible, but Pete seems to like to give injured players a little extra time to get themselves worked back to game speed, so I wouldn't be surprised if he is out an extra week for that.

Hopefully Miller's expected return will help bolster pass protection a little more. It did improve with Unger's return, and I figured that was due to his ability to read defenses and make the proper line/blocking calls. Miller is also, more adept at spotting the rushers than Willson is, and should be able to pick up the blitzers a little better than we've been seeing. Not that I think Willson is bad at it, just that as a rookie, he's not gained the experience that Miller has. Honestly, even though this is a road game, I think our offense will have a more consistent performance this week. Hopefully our defense can step up their road game to a little closer to home game levels. If so, we should be just fine these next two weeks.

I heard that now his pinkie toe got hurt by someone playing "this little piggy went to the market" with his foot.

Yes....Pete mentioned that Harvin was running during pre-game sunday and he's still on PUP. I believe it's only certain suspensions that keep players away from the facilities

I Know WHEN he can return- what I was asking was has anyone heard at all about his progress- there had been conjecture that he may be out the whole season if he can not push off that foot???? OKUNG is a ALL-PRO- and as soon as he started playing after his intial two years of injuries his peers recognized him as one of the best- I have watched him closely and he is one hell of a good pass blocker and so so on run passing- but man we NEED him back

Anyone heard how he is progressing?

Thanks

Well, yeah. There was always concern with that. Hence the reason he was put on IR with designation and not full IR or stay on the active roster.

No, there really isn't any reports on his status that would mean anything at this point. Even worst case scenario there is no reason to full IR him until after the 8 games. If you assume he is healthy enough to play after the 8 games, you would expect him to be half way through his rehab at this point. There isn't going to be much information available about it, as he's still 4 games from being healthy enough to play.

It's the same reason you didn't hear much about Harvin after week 2. He was still 4 games from playing anyway.

See what comes out in 2 weeks.

His injury was given a 6-8 week recovery time. He's eligible to come back after 8 weeks, so it's pretty much in line with his injury. You rarely hear much about injury status until just before they become eligible to come back. About the most you can hope to hear is a reporter ask the status and Pete give his standard "he's working hard and we hope he'll be back at it soon, but we don't know anything for sure yet" answer.

I think the coaches have to be pretty vague about the progress reports they get from rehab, because you don't know if the guy has truly recovered in a football context. The guy could be feeling great and passing all of the PT tests in flying colors, but you don't know what you have until he takes the field and pushes off of that toe for the first time/s.

I do notice that Pete is a bit more forth-coming about players who are not on IR/PUP...especially if you have a freak like Wagner who is coming back very fast in many areas and that the trainers can't explain. Oh, to have a team full of players with those genes!

Was that before or after he injured his butt sitting in a recliner? And then there was the finger that needed to be reattached after he rang a doorbell.
