Post draft excitement has wound down for a bit. OTAs and mini camps are giving us a little bit of something to chew on. But we are still a couple months from the real fun beginning. It’s the slow season. I feel like I’m out in a boat fishing and not a damn thing is biting. Occasionally you might get a slight snag and think something is there. This part of the slow season is here. Bits and pieces to chew on but the meal is still far off.

So, to pass the time, dig into the recesses of your minds and tell us all about any occasions where you got to interact with a Seahawks player.

Mine was at training camp in Cheney and there were only a handful of people around. Matt Hasselbeck was coming out of the tunnel before practice by himself. He battled it out with Trent Dilfer in his first couple years in Seattle. At this point in his career and training camp he was Dilfers backup. I was just kind of hanging out watching whatever players meandered onto the practice field. Hasselbeck came up to me and asked me if I wanted his autograph. I remember thinking something along the lines of, “shit dude, you got beat out by Dilfer. Nobody’s gonna even remember you.” Anyway, I hesitated, looked at him and thought for a second or two and actually responded with, “no thanks I’m good.” And then I turned and walked away.

Sometimes people ask for an athlete’s autograph and get turned down. How many times does an athlete ask a regular person if they want their autograph and they get turned down? At least once that I know of.

Been plenty of times where I kind of regretted that.

Ran into RW3 not long after the draft, he was shooting a commercial at Pike Place. Not a lot of people recognized him as this was right after the draft, and it was hemp fest.

He wanted nothing to do with anyone, lol. Granted he was busy doing something. But he couldn't even bother with a "Hi, sorry, everyone...kind of busy". Just got the "I'm doing something bro" attitude. Gave me total A-Rod vibes, haha.

At least he won that Owl not long after.

I ran into Trent once at the Land Rover dealership on Stevens Creek in San Jose, long after he had retired. It turned out that we both wanted to trade-in, he got all the attention from the salespeople, and I got none. So I left.

I am friends with someone who used to be a Seahawks coach and after a game against the Giants in I believe 2002 I was standing around waiting for my friend and noticed Matt Hasselbeck there. He had a cast on his hand and we were talking and one of my friends who was with me and played quarterback on my team asked Matt “when they play cover two, why don’t you just send three wide receivers out?” Matt’s response was something to the effect of lMike (Holmgren) doesn’t trust us at this point to change plays at the line”. I asked Matt how his brother was and he said you can ask him yourself. He’s right here. Both of them were nice. Mack Strong was also there and I was talking with he and his mother and they were extremely nice people. Mack was saying his ribs were hurting him, I guess after taking punishment in the game. Kaz was there too and he was cool.

In a lofty place tanglin' with Satan over history.
I think I might have posted this when it happened, but, I ran into B Max at The Landing the off-season before we let him go and I said something to the effect of "I hope we can keep you, bro!" after the dap up. He didn't even say anything. The look on his face told me that he already knew what was in the cards.

I saw my favorite defensive player of all time, Lawrence Taylor, at the airport in DC back in 98 or 99. I asked him for his autograph and he told me to get the F out of his face, lol. I wasn't even mad, he looked like he was coming off a coke/booze bender, which he probably was. Classic LT.

Back in December of 21 when the Hawks came to Houston, I got to have a 15-20 minute conversation with Ken Hamlin. Him and Jacob Green were invited guests at our Seahawkers party.

I asked him directly about the XL fiasco and if he still talks about it with other ex players.
I can’t/ won’t quote him verbatim but he basically said the whole NFL knows they got screwed and he’s even heard it from Pittsburgh players that were on the team.
He was very candid and obviously still emotional over it.

I guess I talked to Michael bumpus once cause his daughter and my son both played in a basketaball tournament in port Angeles. I met Emmitt smith on a putting green in sequim at Dungeness golf course. I was a kid. My dad knew he was gonna be there and me and my brothers brought our football cards and all got an autograph. I also met Andre the giant at SeaTac. He was big. “Anybody want a peanut”

I met Joe Montana not far from there at a Safeway in Sunnyvale. It was actually a pretty rad experience although I was 6 and incredibly shy. This was in '89. I still have the newspaper clipping he signed.

Ran into Chris Warren at a Sonics game in DC once. He was shocked that i knew who he was and was happy to take a picture with me. Funny thing was the ushers didn't want to let him onto the floor post game to talk to the players. I had to vouch for him for him to get down there, saying to the usher ' don't you know who this is?? this is Chris Warren, Pro Bowl RB for the Seattle Seahawks '. He was thankful for me helping him out.

Also had a star struck moment when I met Sam Adams. He was doing an autograph signing for the Ravens at ESPN Live. I asked him to make the autograph out to my dad and he just sat their looking at me ... waiting... before finally asking ' what's your dad's name?, or should i just write 'to dad'?

Crap thing was that when i told him i was a fan of his since his seahawk, he asked how / why was a fan of theirs...

Ran into DJ Fluker at a gas station in Renton. Was instantly mesmerized by the size of this Goliath. I remember grabbing his arm and asking him some dumb question like "Do you workout?". He looked at me and instantly I realized my mistake. He just smiled and said "Sometimes ". I thanked the football gods the entire ride home that he didn't put me through a wall.

One time, I was coming out of Seahawks stadium after a game. And I looked in my rear view mirror and there was Jim Zorn. Our quarterbacks coach at the time and the light was still green. But I just slowed down. The light turned yellow And I let it turn red. I asked nicelyfor an autograph from Jim and his wife told me to get a life. I said, I have a life. I'm a Seahawks fanatic to the max another time I ran into home green and his daughter Gretchen at a Mariners baseball game, I asked for a selfie. I didn't realize it was her birthday otherwise, I'd left him alone. Then another time in Olympia Lacey. I'm at cabela's and I'm leaving and I open the door and I look up and I say Charlie Whitehurst and he just looked at me and walked inside like he'd just seen a ghost
Yeah back then i was THAT GUY
After being diagnosed manic depressed i fixed it with nasal surgery and a tongue device , i didn't dream for 25 years or so and it drove me a little nuts , no excuses but im a different guy completely now
Another time my buds n I went to grant wistroms Halloween party at the old sonics hangout and i made 3 crack head seagals costumes and if we weren't a little too risque we'd have won the costume contest but they weren't gonna put us on seahawks Saturday night , we got so drunk we had to taxi home and pick up my rig next day

Ran into Doug Baldwin at Egg and Us in Issaquah a few years back. He was very friendly, and def. intense. Have met Russ twice, and he was very friendly both times. Met Sherm at the Russell Wilson passing academy up in Vancouver several years back. Off the Field Sherm is very cool. At the same event, met Red Bryant, holy crap he's a big boy. Couldn't have been more friendly. Kearse was there as well, crazy friendly, chill guy.
Met Lawrence Jackson and Craig Terrill at one of the Seahawker banquets years ago. But very cool.
Met Walt a few times, exactly as you would expect, total class guy.
