This is an interesting take on a dude who probably makes most of the posters here look like absolute geriatrics in his day to day life.

I think if Pete gets offered a job in this cycle he leaves. Not getting any younger. Chargers make the most sense. Maybe he could draw some actual fans.

Mael, the NFL and it's organizations aren't about coaches keeling over on the sidelines. It doesn't matter how much energy is projected, the mental faculties and awareness fade. Pete's already thrown a phone instead of a challenge flag, has had numerous questionable in game decisions with time outs and clock management, and has admitted more than once that he didn't understand what the other team was doing.

When you take the keys away, nobody should be giving them back. There was a reason for it.

I didn't vote. IMO Pete stays in his windowless basement office amongst the big carboard file boxes, has his once-a-week lunch with the HC/GM, raises the 12th man flag a time or two, and picks up his $15M paycheck.

When Pete took over the Seahawks he was 58. At 72 he has way more energy than most 58 year olds. Hes got more energy than a lot of 38 year olds. At this point in time, I'd be surprised if Pete doesn't get another NFL head coaching job. Hes a proven culture builder and consistent winner. After watching his presser, I came away with the distinct feeling that he still wants to coach.
Take off your hate filled glasses for the guy and glimpse reality. Do you want an unknown young guy, because thats all the rage, with no head coaching experience, or do you want a proven commodity who clearly still has the energy and drive to be an NFL head coach?

I think a team like the Chargers would be smart to grab him. My hope though is that he ends his career here. I will always think of him as a Seahawk and I don’t want him tied to anyone else right now. I’d rather he just stay out of coaching and get in the Hall of Fame already.

It's not just a matter of whether Pete can still do the job or not. It's also a matter of societal expectations and attitudes about age. In addition, if you are looking for a head coach, you want someone who can be there for the next ten years. Even if Pete is still energetic now, do you know what he'll be like in 7 years when he'll be pushing 80?

I love the idea of Pete to the LA Chargers on a 4-5 year deal. He'll be a very young 73. I think it makes sense and could be great for both sides. It might be the shot in the arm that both of them need.

I don’t see him even being mentioned for head coaching jobs so if it’s anything I would guess he helps a staff maybe? I could see a return to college as well

The Chargers, though... they hardly have fans to begin with. Pete's a proven culture guy. He'd put some butts in seats.

Hiring Pete as a HC guarantees turnover in a few years. No GM/Ownership group is going to do that on purpose -- not even the Browns.

He would be a good Quality Coach or in some other generalist position. The Seahawks have a life coach position too I could see him attached to. Either way, I think his best prospects would be with the Hawks.

Make him a position: "Grampa Pete" who's in the building to help out and support wherever and whoever needs it.

The Skins brought Vermeil back so it's not unprecedented, unlikely yes but a franchise with dysfunction that has talent on the roster and needs to get headed in the right direction may be a good spot for him.

I could see him going to Carolina and working with a short playmaker QB that has a knack for game winning plays.
