With the way NFL playoff reseeding works is unclear unclear who our divisional opponent will be.

Seattle will play whoever the lowest remaining seed is after this weekend. All 3 NFC Wild Card games are close on paper, so it's very hard to predict who we will play next.

We know for a fact that if GB beats Chicago in Chicago (more or less a coin flip, according to Vegas) we are guaranteed to face them. I think other than playing the Panthers this is probably our best option.

If all the Divisional winners were to win (very unlikely considering the Panthers are 10.5 point underdogs to the Rams), then we would get the Panthers which I would imagine would be our ultimate dream. But in the more likely scenario that the other two divisional winners (Bears and Eagles) win while the Panthers lose, then the Rams will be the lowest seed left and we will play them next round. This is worst case scenario for me.

The other scenario is that the 49ers win in Philly and the Bears beat the Packers. Then we would play the Whiners no matter what, regardless of what LA does. This is preferable to playing the Rams to me, but I like it less than the other two possibilities of facing the Panthers or Packers.

So in conclusion we have four possible opponents next round: Panthers (4) , Rams (5), Whiners (6) , Packers (7).

The Panthers would be my preferred opponent but I think it's unlikely all the chips fall that way.

So I think we should just hope for the simplest route of avoiding the rams: GB wins and it means we get them no matter what and don't have to sweat about potentially playing the Rams until the last possible moment. In a dream world the Rams lose to the Panthers and we don't even have to worry about them, but I don't think it's likely.

Give the Rams as many chances to lose as possible before we face them, if you ask me. Yes I know to be the best we need to beat the best, but there are certainly preferable routes and as the #1 seed we have earned it. Playing the Rams in the Divisional is not, to me, optimal.

Who do you guys want next?

Doesn't the league have a recent history of road teams winning in the WC round? Maybe that was longer ago, but it seems like the road team has prevailed in a lot of first round games lately.

I agree 100% with this post. Best route is for someone else to take out the Rams and we never face them again. almost impossible to see Carolina beating them, so we want a Packers win. we will beat the Packers, and get to the NFC Championship game.
No doubt. Best route for the Rams would be for someone else to take them out, so they never have to face the Hawks.

Yes which is why all the games are tight and the road team is even favored in some

Brian Nemhauser made a good point. You'd like avoid the Clams next week if possible. But, if you have to play them at some point, wouldn't you rather face them next week when you are coming off a bye, healthy & rested?
if you know you HAD to play them, then maybe. but if we play the Packers, the Eagles or 49ers could take out the Rams in the divisional game and we never see them.

This I agree with. More and more I embrace the idea of the Seahawks facing the Rams in the divisional round. But more in a "let's get it out of the way" kind of fashion. That team really bugs me.

i don't disagree that may be the easy route, yet wonder if the team rested and ready can get it done right now against either LAR or SF If so, does it truly matter?

At some point we are going to need to meet either the Rams or the 49ers again. Let's get it done and won.

Green Bay is interesting to me. We are gonna get everyone's best shot. I think Stafford was a little banged up. He could be a smidge apprehensive to see the Hawks.

It's gonna be completely amazing whateva happens it in our house.

I'm still not counting out the Niners this weekend. That's a pissed off team with a lot of pride. I think and hope they will win. But it's not some gimme that they lose. Wouldn't mind smacking them in the mouth AGAIN.

Same. And the eagles have been bad recently. Whiners could easily win

Doesn't matter to me, whatever teams makes it to Seattle, they're not scoring more that 14-17 points. Seattle is clicking right now, all these other teams are mid.
No way man, the Rams are the greatest team in the history of the NFL!

I would not PREFER the Rams first, because I think it'd be best for Sam's mentality to get a win and knock one monkey off his back, and the Rams are a LOT for him to process if he's going up against them initially. Still, we don't get a choice, and I suppose if he did open the playoffs by killing it against the Rams, it would be difficult to not believe the sky is the limit for him the rest of the way.

Unpopular national narrative right now… but sharp money don’t lie. Money is pouring in on Packers. Line all the way to GB -1.5 on the road… and they haven’t won in a month. Resting everyone last week was a de facto bye. Provided Love, Jacobs, and others are fully healthy and active I love the Packers to win at Chicago this week. They led 120 minutes + in 2 games against the Bears this year… only blowing a 16-6 lead including the Bears getting an onside kick in that game and throwing a TD on the last play of OT…

I’m hoping - and betting - we get the Packers in the Divisional.
