Breaking news on ESPN that Mark Sanchez will have surgery and is most likely done for the year.
Ryan's best decision as coach of the Jets was to send Sanchez to the field in the 4th Quarters against the NY Giants scrubs ...
Now, Geno has the keys to the Jets. He can screw as much as he wants .... or learn as fast as possible.
I think Brady Quinn might play some QB this season ... but if I were the Jets coach, I would play the young Sims.

Some team is gonna get one hell of a defense coordinator this offseason.

That is the best thing that could happen to the Jets right now. I think Geno is a bit overrated, but he still is a better option than Sanchez.

My guess is that he's started his last game in the NFL.

Doubtful, look how long Tebow hung around. I see him being a backup somewhere, but not a starter for sure. Stranger things have happened though.

Blessing in disguise...Sanchez is done in NY, but I think he'd be serviceable elsewhere. Doesn't Leinhart still have a job?

I'd give Sanchez a look. Its common to cap on Rex and the Jets org, yet we expect they coached Sanchez properly?

You bring up a very valid point. It is entirely possible that he will do well under a different coach. Or, he may just suck.

Looked better in his first two years than Alex Smith did in his. Hard to get the "bad QB" stench off you once it's on, though.

Obviously, Mark Sanchez will be a free agent next year. They would have dumped his contract prior to this season had it saved any money, but they can get out with minimal expense after this season is over.

My guess is that he replaces Brady Quinn, as next summer's primary QB competition for Tarvaris Jackson.

I was under the impression Sanchez wasn't all that fond of Carroll after the statements Pete made about Sanchez not being ready. Granted that doesn't preclude him coming into to compete for a job, just would make for an interesting story line.

Sanchez is what happens when a team thinks they can just buy a QB in the draft, but has no system or plan to nurture.

When the Jets had a good play action game and the best O-line in the NFL, Sanchez was a red zone ace. The Jets FO made the mistake of thinking it was all Sanchez.

Scotte LOVES him some red zone stats.

True fact: Scotte cant think of redzone stats while making love; he'll be "spent" too soon (or Grossman or Gabbert).

Scotte has redzone stats on punters. NOT punt returners, punters.

It's just sick.

Over/under on how many other stops he makes before winding up in Oakland?

Ahhh, Oakland....where mediocre QBs go to die.

The Texans and Cardinals won't want him back.

(It's a joke).

That's not been my understanding. Pete was very clear with Mark that he felt Mark was making a mistake and Mark's parents told him the same thing.

Looks like Pete was on the money with that one.
