The film and the numbers he has put up behind terrible coordinators and an awful line, with no run support say otherwise.
The point is its entirely pointless and baseless to say with certainty what he CANT do if he had even have remotely the tools that are at these other QBs disposal.
Its like putting two cooks in a kitchen and giving one only half the ingredients ro make Thanksgiving dinner and the other has all of the freshest ingredients, the best recipe book, a great instructor and allnthe time in the world.
The one with crap ingredients still makes a good meal, but the other makes one people line up for.
And there is a question why?
There is SERIOUSLY the need to label the dude at a disadvantage as not as good?
You want to ignore the fact that one is at a significant disadvantage and keep harping on the fact that he has never shown that he can make an incredible dinner.
With all the respect in the world... it just defies logic and common sense, especially when the cook who has no help and crap ingredients still manages to pull off some phenomenal dishes.
And the reality is, Geno has NEVER in his career, not even for one single season, had the support staff, the leadership above him, the 'recipe' book to work from nor the 'chef' to help him. Never.
The dude literally has had coordinators who dont work in the league anymore. Same with O line coaches. They have been proven to be unqualified to lead, let alone scheme a system that can win OR maximize the skill of a qb.
It comes across as entirely disengenuous to debate a thing that is so obviously lopsided in one direction.
You keep on praising Goff as if he just does what he does on his own.
His first year in Detroit :
21' 19 TD, 8 Ints
Before that, he had 2 solid seasons with McVay in 17 and 18 . McVay, the undisputed QB whisperer and one of the best coordinators of a generation.
The others, also with McVay:
20td 13 INts
22td 16 Ints
And then a short year at
5td and 7 ints.
The guy has ONLY succeeded with stellar coaching and coordinating and even then hasnt done it consistently.
Sure, he has played well, NOW, as the Lions have after decades, finally used all of their top draft pick capital and turned it into top talent, and found top leaders to lead that talent.
When has Geno had top leadership coaching him? When has he had a top coordinator? When has he been in a top system? When has he has a line that gives all day to work behind the way Goff has.
Yet it seems like some want to not only fault him for not succeeding despite having the OPPOSITE of even competent help, but ignore the success he has had regardless and claim definitively what he cant do even if he did have top tier support.
It doesnt hold water in any real genuine debate that honestly wants to arrive at an unbiased, as close to realistic outcome as possible.
