Purdy is the best QB in the NFC, and far and away the best in the division. I wish we could find such a "mediocre" QB.
Yeah people seem to want to blame Grubb for everything while making nothing Geno's fault. That's the problem I have. We excuse everything away and it must be someone elses fault because Geno is elite. I'm not buying it. Maybe I'm wrong and he's a top 5 guy like Keasley and others argue but I would bet against it. I hope he plays much better with a better line and a new OC though.Grubb sucked? Didn't I read somewhere that the offense was like second in the NFL in fourth quarter comebacks this season?
Kaepernick, like Purdy, is the product of a team full of talent. If they were truly elite you could transplant them and they would still be great, like Stafford. Kaepernick couldn't and I doubt Purdy could.Kap was elite during that stretch. I hated him but he was a monster on the field. He tilted the field and was a nightmare for defenses. Purdy when you look at the numbers put up near league best numbers. So is he elite? I don't know, he's better than Seahawks fans think but even if he isn't he produced elite numbers as their QB. Both had massively better years than Geno had this year and its not remotely close.
Overall the point remains if you don't have an elite guy its really, really hard and rare to make it. The guys who are questionable put up elite numbers in that position.
Yep, just because easy picks are dropped, it doesn't mean that they didn't happen. They just somehow magically get glossed over. Stats only get you so far. Good between the 20's only gets you so far.Brock huard, a Geno supporter said it best. He's shocked at some of the bad plays Geno has as a 12 year veteran because they're mistakes rookies make. I think he's right. You can't call Brock a Geno hater because he actually supports keeping Geno next year and trying to make a run with him. You sort of make the point I'm trying to make. MOst of those types of mistakes like the red zone picks, the near pick against chicago where he throws it right at two Bears defenders are the types of plays you don't make after year 2-3 at most.
I guess I disagree. Kaep was possibly the hardest QB to play against during his short stint of dominance. He was light years better then than Geno has been this year. Was it partially the system? Sure but it was also because he could run for 200 yards, throw it 60, move around. I don't man he was really good until teams figured him out a little bit. I gaurantee you if you asked coaches around the league where he ranked he was elite albiet for a short period of time. Purdy's numbers dwarf Geno's since he's been the starter. I've watched him enough to know he's super smart, makes plays on his own when stuff breaks down and just plays really good football for them. Did you even watch the Josh Allen video I linked with all 18 of his 2023 (6th season) interceptions?Brock huard, a Geno supporter said it best. Don't overthink why Colin Kaepernick is still a free agent. Simply put, years have passed since he was an effective quarterback. He is 29 years old, has succeeded only in an unsustainable scheme and is part of a well-populated group of former starters who also remained available as the week began.

"I'm really trying to stay unbiased and not just be influenced by what I saw when I scouted him in college," the executive told La Canfora. "But Kyle has to see what I see. You can win with him, with everything else being great around him, but you aren't going to win because of him. The roster is getting older and beat up and the roster is going to slip once you pay him.
"You saw him slump last year when everything wasn't perfect. You know how I feel about this one, and it's on the film. He's an elite backup to me, more than anything else. He's a guy, he's not the guy. … And I'm hearing the same thing you are about Cousins. I can absolutely see that. You can't give this kid $50 or $60 million."
Ive been that for a long time... lol@keasley45 You're becoming the king of the TL/DR post.![]()
Herbert had 3.Josh Allen only has 6 INT this year? That's blowing my mind.
Yeah me and many others around the league disagree. You don't put up league leading numbers multiple years in a row and you're a "backup"
That's a reasonable take. I would also argue he's gotten away with some horrible throws too like the Chicago game and the game before where he could easily have 4 more picks but every QB gets away with some to be fair.I'll do Geno's 15 to compare.
8 his fault, genuinely bad decisions -- forcing a ball, bad throw etc.
2 tip at the line (1 is a screen)
1 hit while throwing (You can blame Geno for this, just a side statistic)
3 bad route running/receiver mistake (dropping, beyond horrible route)
1 egregious DPI
One major takeaway is how much pressure Geno is in during these INTs compared to the other QBs.
I think the big takeaway is that Geno got unlucky quite a bit and he's also just a mid QB.
Herbert has been incredible with the football. He's also throwing tight window throws.Herbert had 3.

I think it's still too early to call Purdy an elite quarterback. We haven't seen him play enough football yet. There are still too many things about him that need answers.

I agree though, I think he got unlucky with some of those and he's a mid to high mid level QB. I don't think he's bad by any stretch. I just think going on 35/36 he's limited moving forward and the team has to have a plan for succession and if you keep putting it off its going to be a disaster if its not already.
