And I have to say that was more like a regular season game than ANY pre-season game I've been to before. The entire 1st half was like the real thing. Too much fun.

Also, I know the numbers were ok on paper, but from my point of view, there were way too many large chunks of yards given up by our run defense tonight.
No dude, I see it too.Captain":n1mlvc0r said:Jazzhawk":n1mlvc0r said:And is it just me, or has Earl Thomas made same big misses already this year?

Large chunks? the longest run by a DEN running back was 8 yards.... People always gonna find something to complain about lol.
They were regularly getting 5-6-7-8 yard runs. I'm sorry, but those ARE large chunks.Captain":2phs5u9n said:Jazzhawk":2phs5u9n said:And is it just me, or has Earl Thomas made same big misses already this year?

Focusing only on the first half, Denver had 6 runs of at least 5 yards in 19 carries, for a average of 3.26 ypc. That means they did very well in the remaining runs, and indeed gave up only one first down by rushing in that half. In comparison, Seattle also had 6 such runs in only 14 carries, and three rushing first downs. How many 5+ yard runs would have been acceptable to you?Jazzhawk":2x7rifol said:They were regularly getting 5-6-7-8 yard runs. All I KNOW is that those acceptable to you run plays allowed too many series to be extended when they should have ended.Perfundle":8we7z8ad said:Jazzhawk":8we7z8ad said:Jazzhawk":8we7z8ad said:And is it just me, or has Earl Thomas made same big misses already this year?

I get what you are saying, but there was some bad D out there too. Peyton has long held true to almost always throwing slot when teams blitz the nickel. Seattle has to know that. That was a chunk play where the safety was doing a terrible job of covering for the blitzer.pehawk":1df4uth4 said:Giving up those chunks to the opposition is the trade-off for NOT giving up big plays. Don't gamble and keep the play in front of you. Give up 5 yards, but not 55 yards. Pete and gang are HUGE believers in momentum and tilting-the-field. They'll never give an opposing offense momentum...they want to score...they're going to earn it by methodically moving down the field.
It's why the defense can frustrate us, but STILL be #1 in scoring defense.
