And I have to say that was more like a regular season game than ANY pre-season game I've been to before. The entire 1st half was like the real thing. Too much fun.

Just like the Beastquake 7-9 team upsetting the Super Bowl Champions. This is all about the Culture Pete Carroll has instilled in this franchise.

Also, it seemed to me Turbin is an even better runner this year. He looks stronger in the sense that he doesn't go down as easily. He now is more like Marshawn...he takes a hit, maintains his balance and keeps driving his legs for more yards. I like it.

Feeling the squeeze. He was running HARD in practice on Monday. More of Pete's philosophy creating a culture and resulting in a competitive roster.

I agree.
Turbin has a lot of really nice running backs behind him.
I think he's safe this year.
I really like this whole 'compete' thing.

And is it just me, or has Earl Thomas made same big misses already this year?

Also, I know the numbers were ok on paper, but from my point of view, there were way too many large chunks of yards given up by our run defense tonight.

Large chunks? the longest run by a DEN running back was 8 yards.... People always gonna find something to complain about lol.

Earl's flying around, he just ain't hitting anything!
I'm thinking his balance has been thrown off by the lose of the weight of the missing dreads.
I'm sure he'll adjust to his 'streamlining', and start lighting people up real soon!

I was telling my buddy I took to the game with me the same thing. Never in my life have I been to a Seahawks preseason game that fooled me into thinking it was a regular season game.

Freakin' awesome. 12 is legit.

No dude, I see it too.

We're making the stops, but its the wrong guys doing it. Linebackers and safties are making the tackles after the big dudes get pushed back. Big dudes are supposed to be collapsing the run lanes and it doesn't seem to be happening. That might burn us in the regular season.

On the flip side (and our lack of run stuffing just might be a side effect of this) i'm loving the improved pass rush. We're getting fantastic penetration from all the d linemen.

It felt (and sounded) like the real deal watching on TV. This was a big measuring stick for both teams projected to be at the top of the league this season and both sides knew it.

Broncos fans were whining and complaining that Pete's raw raw coaching was making the players "play like a playoff game instead of a preseason game".

Bunch of whiners them Broncs.

They were regularly getting 5-6-7-8 yard runs. I'm sorry, but those ARE large chunks.

Focusing only on the first half, Denver had 6 runs of at least 5 yards in 19 carries, for a average of 3.26 ypc. That means they did very well in the remaining runs, and indeed gave up only one first down by rushing in that half. In comparison, Seattle also had 6 such runs in only 14 carries, and three rushing first downs. How many 5+ yard runs would have been acceptable to you?

Giving up those chunks to the opposition is the trade-off for NOT giving up big plays. Don't gamble and keep the play in front of you. Give up 5 yards, but not 55 yards. Pete and gang are HUGE believers in momentum and tilting-the-field. They'll never give an opposing offense momentum...they want to score...they're going to earn it by methodically moving down the field.

It's why the defense can frustrate us, but STILL be #1 in scoring defense.

All I KNOW is that those acceptable to you run plays allowed too many series to be extended when they should have ended.

Enough on that subject, as it one one small observation, not criticism.

The 12s were amazing. Best preseason game ive been to and the dang ticket prices reflected it. :-(.

Being at the game and watching feels different than reading a stat sheet. It felt we gave up some chunkage.

I get what you are saying, but there was some bad D out there too. Peyton has long held true to almost always throwing slot when teams blitz the nickel. Seattle has to know that. That was a chunk play where the safety was doing a terrible job of covering for the blitzer.

And Winfield got torched on the TD. It looks like he expected help that was not there.

A couple of those sideline passes looked eerily like the Matt Ryan pass with 25 seconds to go to Douglas. I am pretty sure 20 yard chunk plays are not what Pete means by keeping the play in front of you.

BB and Sherman both said they have some things to clean up.

On 1st down, a play is a success if it gains 45% of the needed yardage. On second down, 60%, on third or fourth down, only a first down is a success. Based on that, our run defense, while Manning was in play, gave up 7 successful runs out of 16.

That's not top 10 defense vs the run.
