I was going to make this a post about specifics for this week, because how difficult is it to just pick up the phone to a player’s agent and ask what the starting figures are?

I do feel I have to begrudgingly give the guy credit for keeping his team constantly in the spotlight and raising the value of the franchise above all others when his team hasn't even made the NFC championship game in almost 30 years, the longest such dry spell of any NFC team. That's a pretty bad and noteworthy record for "America's Team", nothing for Jones's Texas sized ego to brag about.

The Cowboys and Jones are still living off those Super Bowl wins three decades ago, which, you could argue, were far more reliant upon Jimmy Johnson's leadership than Jones's. I think Jones really resents that perception, so much so that Johnson made the NFL Hall of Fame even before he made the Cowboy's ring of honor.
