Carp struggled today. But I still think he is our best player at the guard position.

We knew going in that Carolina had multiple studs on the interior, that was a mismatch going in, and it played out as such. It happens, the line as a whole will play better. One game isn't a damnation of a player, a unit, or a team, I thought we learned that last year.

Plus, like last year after week one, I'll remind you that the opponent is a GOOD defensive line.
Last year it took people a few weeks before they realized "Cardinals just have a good defensive line...the Hawks offensive line had a challenge". Same thing this week. In a few weeks we'll look back and say "Panthers just have a good defensive line...the Hawks offensive line had a challenge".
Carp will ALWAYS be the whipping boy here, especially for rubes like me, who don't know enough about the line to evaluate specific players. "Carp sucks" is a very safe thing to say. It just is.

Notice he didn't say coach here.
So, we can still blame Cable for things?

XOXO

Carp will get better when he can stay on the field every week.

I will say this, I am not sold on his athleticism one tiny bit. There is a reason the team was working Bowie and Bailey at LG. You don't need to be a great athlete for Tom Cable's system, but I am starting to have doubts about Carpenter clearing the minimum threshold for athleticism in a zone scheme.

Now you are just picking on carp cause he is an easy target. Whatever

Wish he would have been part of the final cuts. Dude looks like a stiff out there. He's slow off the snap, poor against the pass, and was limping after multiple plays.Tech Worlds":x6q5g3re said:Did you guys notice his piss poor play today? Several times I saw him barely getting in the way of defenders as they ran right by and around his slow ass.
Dude is just garbage. Worst pick of the Carroll era.

There was one play, he gets to the second level, Kuechly is right in front of him, Kuechly is one quick dude for his size, slips right by him of course. Carpenter about broke an ankle and went falling back all off balance. What struck me was it looked like he had no strength in his legs, just really wobbly, once he was off balance he had trouble even staying on his feet.
I was embarrassed. Dude has a ways to go, he's not even remotely ready.![]()
This. :13: Our fans seem all too swift to condemn players much too quickly. I'n not on any bandwagon here, but my jury is still out on Carp. One performance against one of the best DL's in the league is not enough to judge for me.SharkHawk":1hxg128e said:This reminds me of the Rob Simms talk. That's a guy we should have kept.
