I don't know how anyone can pick out one player for blame when the entire OL performance was subpar.

We could make threads about all the others as well.

Carpenter brings attention because he was our first round pick that we were hoping to be a cornerstone of our online for years to come.

At this point in time that obviously isn't going to happen.

One player isn't to blame.

A lot of Carp ripping here, and yes he looked far from dominant, but our worst O line performer was Mcquiston IMO, yet no mention of his garbage performance? I saw pancaked at least 3 times on pass protection... and i mean bad...

McQuistan isn't the chosen whipping boy. And yes, he was just as bad, if not worse than Carp.

What cracks me up is that draft position factors in to how much certain fans rip on certain players. If McQ was the former 1st rounder and Carp the veteran FA signing, good chance it's McQ who gets all the hate. That's stupid to me. How a player was acquired shouldn't affect how much criticism he gets or doesn't. Each player is playing football for the Seahawks. Their play should be 100% the reason for crticism/giving a pass. Who cares how a player was acquired? Unless it's a player like Aaron Curry making a ton of $. So what? You want your guys to play well. Period.

What cracks me up is when it cracks others up that draft position factors in to the level of criticism a guy receives. Like expectation should play no part in any of it. Expectation factors in everywhere, even non-NFL jobs. If someone walks through the door with less talent and accolades but punches above their weight, that's a pleasant surprise. If someone comes in out of shape and is oft-injured and can't put it together, that's disappointing.

KJ Wright doesn't beast out all over the field but he's a very good linebacker who receives a lot of praise and cost far less to acquire. He's helping the success of the team. Curry cost a lot to acquire and hurt the success of the team.

That's the difference.

My hope for Carp is a Tubbs career, I've said it before. Put together one good season helping us go to the Superbowl.

Okung is far different in that Okung wasn't hurting his chances by not pushing away from the table.

Ironically there is an article on .com about how well Carpenter played. Obviously the team has no clue.

About all pete said was "he played fine".I dont think I have ever heard Pete say that about a player. He usually is way more positive. He also said it doesn't necessarily mean he earned the start.
Hopefully he has beaten the injury bug and will become the tough physical player everybody hoped he would be when they drafted him.

This is his last chance if he can't stay healthy and contribute he won't be on the roster next year. To early to call it though as far as how he will play this year.

Yep. This is a contract year for him correct?

He either delivers this year or will be labeled a first round bust.

INCORRECT.

He signed a 4-year deal, so he is under club control through the 2014 season.

Thanks for the clarification. Looks like he will be on a longer leash for a while.

The .Com "article" is actually a snippet on Carpenter, and it can be interpreted as a vote of confidence from Pete...and it doesn't really say how "well" he played, if you know Pete speak:

A couple of Pete's quotes:

“He made it through feeling good, health-wise."

“He played a number of plays in the game, played quite a bit and had enough chances – run and pass – to show he’s ready to keep moving forward. So we’re really happy that he made that progress.”

I hear a head coach that was concerned about the health of a player happy he made it through without injuring himself, and not going out of his way to point out how good he thought he played.

But in that light, he made it through unscathed...so there's progress!

Pete probably would've said great job or outstanding if RW wasn't having to run around most the time from blown blocks or whatever.
