My hope is that he earns the backup QB spot in 2026 and positions himself to take over in 2027. He's going to get SO much practice time in the interim, and he seems like the kind of hard worker who will take advantage of every bit of it.
Is the understudy ever actually the backup? I feel like the QBOTF should not be thrown to the wolves like he was Sam Howell or something

I think that's the argument for carrying three QBs this year. I'm really anxious to see him, but I think it's best that he's given 1+ years of uninterrupted practice. With his work ethic (and Jayden Daniels' VR I hope?), that could be a helluva year of development. We can still get him on the field in a limited way this year as a special weapon, though.

Still early days so we don't know what will happen though the scenario they put forward is likely.

There is a competition for everything. We got Matt Flynn to be our starter in 2012 but our third round draft pick performed so well pre season tat he became the starter from week 1 such a scenario is unlikely but not impossible.

The most like scenario other than the posted one is that Milroe beats Locke for the backup role leading to Locke being cut and Milroe being one injury away from the starter and even if Darnold stays healthy and good, Milroe could get some snaps in garbage time.
I agree with all that, but I also think they will designed a few RPO type plays for him in short yardage situations.

I think (hope) there will be a lot of that.

It's gonna be a great year to be a Seahawks fan. I plan on setting a personal record for games attended. Do any of you guys meet up before/after the games?

Nah dude ol’ toffee is doublin down right here. He is committed and he inspires me
My front office, and coaching staff can do no wrong in off season, they get 100% support from ole toffee, and my homerism runs at max throttle.

The cold and often cruel reality, or, wonderful results will come once the season starts. After game results and analytics trickles in, we can analyze and critique based on data

Off season, I am support all the decisions made by our team and I am in cloud nine.

An athletic, but grossly inaccurate passer. Great, our own Anthony Richardson. Guess we couldn’t lure Tebow out of retirement. Excited about the 2025 Seahawks, but not this pick.

Despite having three offensive coordinators in four years, Milroe completed 65.8% of his passes in 2023 and 64.3% of his passes in 2024 (which weren't inflated by being a dump-off artist). Anthony Richardson was a 59.4% and 53.8% passer in his last two years. He obviously has a lot of work to do, but it's all there for him.

Grossly inaccurate statement.
Agreed...completion % is somewhat overrated in my opinion. For comparison...
Joe Burrow career 63.3% in NFL and 68.8% in college, Josh Allen 63.6% NFL and 56.2% in college, Lamar 64.9% in NFL and 57.1% in college. Josh Allen's recent MVP season...63.6%. I can't even begin to understand how a Hawks fan isn't excited about Milroe's potential.

Yah…not vibing with this. There were a lot of challenges coaching wise at Alabama when he was there.

You can learn an offense…you can increase accuracy.

What you can’t do is throw a fkng football 75 mph and run a 4.3…

I’d hate to levy expectations on this kid…but he’s in the perfect position. I foresee an All-Pro QB happening.

For your viewing pleasure (sorry if it's been posted before):

Despite all the "grossly inaccurate passing" (/s) this guy runs like a bullet on steroids. Comments by coaches and attending insiders say without hesitation Milroe has already made significant progress toward improving on his shortcomings during OTAs, early 4:30 every morning workouts, etc. Milroe said he is feeling much better about his basics (footwork and reads) and is excited to work.

After watching the video, Darnold better show up ready to play. If Seahawks open 2-4, the drum will be beating.
I'm sure Darnold is well aware of his position ever since he was signed to a contract that had an "out" clause for the first year for the team, let alone the team drafting Milroe.

He's been in the league for 7 years (going on 8) for god's sake. 😄

He knows the score.

That said, however, if we take Mike MacDonald at his word from what he said to Brock/Salk in that interview, then he might end up giving Darnold as long a leash as possible.

2-4 isn't bad enough, imo, to warrant a change.

And besides even if there did have to be a change, Milroe won't be the first person off the bench. Drew would.

I was just saying what will be the fans’ response to a 2-4 start, especially if Darnold stinks.

Will fans be beating the drum for Lock? I know I won’t.

I don't know who would be beating that drum when everyone here knows that Milroe would sure as hell NOT be ready.

It would almost certainly be the Drew Lock show (which unfortunately for toffee, won't end all that well; he's a career backup for a reason).

Hopefully, this offense is solid so such talk is nonexistent.....

Milroe will be QB2. Maybe sooner than some think.
