I have no doubt Harvin wants to get onto the field as soon as possible. I think Carroll will have a hard time sitting him, even if the coach wants it that way.

Rapoport is already back-tracking.

Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet 10m
Talked Percy Harvin on TA Kickoff & his Oct. 28 target date. @MikeSilver warns Seahawks want to be MUCH more cautious with their investment

Not really. Rap still believes the 28th is the target date. Silver says that may be Harvin's target date, but the FO is looking at the long game to protect their investment so he wouldnt be surprised if hes out until after the bye week.

Every single player coming off significant injury has been through 2-3 weeks of full practice before playing in an actual game for Seattle. I don't see that changing for Harvin. I'd bet money that he does NOT play in the MNF game at St. Louis.

What odds will you give me? I'll take you up on it.

Still waiting to hear back from you.

Ha. I wouldn't take money from a .NETer. I still don't think he plays without two full weeks of practice.

I laughed at the comment about Pete not lying in his comments.

I find Pete's "coach speak" just as good as Mike Holmgren's and I thought he was one of the best. We could bring Herman in to speak for our coach but I doubt our member base could stomach him.

I do think that the best Seahawks "coach speak" ever was without doubt Matt Hasselbeck. His interview coach speaks deserve a gold medal anytime. He has to be a politician in his later years because he's really good at saying a lot but saying nothing we didn't already know.

It may be wise to play it safe . . . wait until Atlanta or after. Harvin's absence shouldn't be a difference maker against a Bradford-less Rams or the Bucs in Seattle. Glennon should be a sitting duck in that game.

Maybe not make him full participant, but Pete is the kind of coach that would rather a player get a few reps.

Back on topic.....Mr. Harvin has a history of being injured. Having him announce "I'm injured" just as Training Camp gets started is a "real negative" on my score card. It's nice to hear him "talk the talk" as we approach mid-season. I'm going to remain skeptical until I see him leaving opposing DB's grasping for air as he flies down the field.

And you know the next topic after he finishes his first game....."Can Percy last through the Playoffs?" :roll:

The good news? Even an injured Harvin has had better stats than our healthy wide receivers.

2009 = 60 receptions, 6 TD's
2010 = 71 receptions, 5 TD's
2011 = 87 receptions, 6 TD's
2012 = 62 receptions, 3 TD's in half a year

But I agree, unless your name is AP, coming off a major surgery and contributing and/or not getting hurt again is hard to do. Which is why I'm glad to see Pete take a very cautious approach. A LOT of other teams would be rushing Harvin back too soon.

Harvin was only inactive for like 3 out of 40-something games up until his ankle injury last year suffered here in seattle.

League transaction report denotes WR Percy Harvin has "returned to practice" for the Seahawks.

Per league rules, the Seahawks now have 21 days to get him back on the active roster, so the clock's ticking in earnest now. Week 10 at the latest.

if he doesn't play Monday, the following weekend return home vs. tampa will be almost a guaranteed first game for him.

I just hope we get him back when's hes ready, no need to baby sit him, gotta get him acclimated asap. If he's not though, than I understand it'll need a little more time.

I'm curious to see if he has a "red shirt"...ie. no hitting or tackling for this first week.

Keep in mind that his injury was minor enough that he could have played through it. For all we know the actual surgery was harder on him than the tear itself.

For everyone concerned about him being in game action and risking it being 'too soon' from the standpoint of re-injuring the hip, if that were an honest concern he wouldn't be back at practice yet.
