I'm sure @toffee enjoys this pic.
But anyway, holy sh*t balls!
Here's something we don't see everyday : A LAUGHER.
'Cause that's what this was.
All phases of the Seahawks team worked today :
Offense, Defense, and Special teams.
SPECIAL TEAMS
(Jay Harbaugh....who are you? Are you really Jay? I got to start giving you credit, pal.)
A blocked punt... And two huge returns (one of them for a Team Record-Setting Touchdown)
Meyers didn't miss a FG this week which is always good.
Our Punter (forgot his name) was solid.
Yeah there was that small hiccup toward the end where they allowed a somewhat-big return but that was when the game was long since decided.
Kudos to Harbaugh and the team there otherwise.
Hope they keep it up.
DEFENSE
Defense brought the pain to New Orleans.
Not as many sacks as I would like (to say the least) but they made Rattler's life pretty miserable for the most part.
Byron F'n Murphy. 'NUFF SAID.
Oh and Kendrick once again has a game where he misses an INT then gets one later. LOL
But he had an outstanding game. He made it possible to be able to rest Spoon for Thursday AND establish that he can just go in and the Hawks D doesn't miss a beat!! LET'S F*CKING GOOOO!!!
Rush Defense did a solid job in keeping Kamara from going nuts forcing Rattler to try and beat them through the air and it paid off for the most part.
The only time Rattler found any success was following a penalty later in the game (during garbage time) where they had sacked Rattler but got a bit too "exhuberant" and were called for the Personal foul there which I'm sure annoyed MacDonald.....
But again...overall, a very good effort once more by the Defense.
Best part? They did all this without Spoon, Emmanwori, and Julian Love and they will have them (I imagine) ready to go for this Thursday over in Arizona.
OFFENSE
Holy sh*t.
First off :
Sam Friggin' Darnold.
This guy only threw the ball 18 times the whole game (but that was mainly because his efforts helped make it so the game was over by the end of the 3rd and he was able to take the rest of the night off on the sideline in the 4th quarter) but with lack of quantity, Sam Darnold deliver ultimate QUALITY in throws.
He finally found JSN for a Touchdown (his first of the season and hopefully the first of many) and got Kupp involved a bit again.
HOWEVER, I think Sam found another new favorite target.
And his name is TORY....F*CKING....HORTON.
This guy seems to have "IT".
Darnold seems to have developed just as good chemistry with him as he had done with JSN and Kupp, and THAT is a great sign.
Had himself a great quality and EFFICIENT night throwing the football for 218 yards and 2 TDs but more importantly *ZERO* INTs and I saw there was also ZERO Turnover-Worthy plays (aka No Geno'isms).
Almost 78% completion percentage and people can't say this time that he was just dumping the ball off to running backs (like that debacle in Game 1); he was slinging it to either the middle of the field, dumping it off, or checking it down.
Also when there was nothing there, he immediately threw the ball at the ground and lived to see another down.
Absolutely LOVED his outing today.
Tory Horton had himself one HELL of a game.
He is quickly establishing himself as a rising star right out of the gate with his performance.
He is giving Darnold yet another RELIABLE target for him to go-to and on this team where everyone was wondering who else do they have aside from JSN and Kupp, well we may have our answer.
Oh and how about Tory making HISTORY (Seahawks History) in Punt Returning a Punt for a 95-yard TD???
It broke (I think) the record held by Charlie Rogers in 1999 where he broke one for 94 yards.
Also, he became just the 3rd Seahawk to get a Punt Return for a TD and a Passing TD in the same game joining Bobby Engram and Joey Galloway.
2003 was when Engram accomplished the feat so it's been awhile.
22 F'N YEARS to be exact.
WHAT A GAME for this young man.
The Running game was...okay, i guess.
K9 had some moments but unfortunately a couple of holding penalties wiped out some big runs.
Fortunately the passing game with Darnold (and Special teams) helped make that a moot point.
And really...that's all I have to say about the running game (nice to see Holani gets some run and also Wright as well late during garbage time).
OVERALL, this was a very important win considering the game we have upcoming this Thursday.
I was not impressed with what I heard and seen from the Cards. They lost to a MASH UNIT that wore Forty-Whiner gear today.
I'm not going to put them on the same "level" as this Saints team but I will say that this also is a team the Hawks SHOULD be able to beat even on the road.
But that's a discussion for the Pre-game lead up.
As for right now, I am rejoicing because THERE WAS NO STUPID REPEAT OF THAT INFAMOUS "GIANTS" GAME. Ha!
The Hawks were the Superior team on paper and now they PROVED IT on the field of play.
Oh and the Prediction-curse (where everyone bets on one team and then there's an upset) was broken (who knew?)
SEA!
HAWKS!
SEA!
HAWKS!
SEA!
HAWKS!
