Hes been this way all year, how do you throw the ball 20 plus times in a qrt with the backup that had not practice with the ones.

Eh, its the first season, I'd imagine its a learning curve. I'll give him a pass this season. Give them time to get the personnel they want on the roster and see what they come up with. It was very clear early this is not a championship caliber roster. Mainly both trenches. If you can't control the line of scrimmage on both sides, nothing else matters.

None of it works if the pocket is just being collapsed by defensive linemen walking their way back to the QB and collapsing the pocket. It is like being closed up in a fist.

So it starts
I think Grubb does plenty of things great and by no means am I calling for his job. At the same time this isn't UW where Penix has 7 seconds to throw the ball on a big field against mediocre talent.

That line is playing like crap. Not sure what 7 seconds you’ve seen in this game. They are getting home in 2-3.

What's funny is that it is all just sitting there in front of you and you can't see it. Compare the pocket Love gets compared to the pocket Geno or Howell get. It has nothing to do with the play calling it is simply physical control of the line of scrimmage.

Right? At some point you have to block and maintain a damn pocket. There has been no pocket tonight

Sorry I meant to say he is calling plays like he has 7 second like he did with UW's line in college. You are right people get home quick. Get the ball out quicker.

Sure but free rushers at the snap without even blitzing. Where you going with the ball?

What did Lafleur do that last drive when we shut the Jacobs run game down?

-Quick slant against a loaded box on 1st down.

-Jet Sweep on 1st down.

-Push pass (jet sweep) against a run blitz

3 plays in a row where that netted 30+ yards and lead to a TD drive that ended the game. Play Calling matters.

I don't understand the complaints about calling pass plays. We were behind and had a long shot chance. Should we just call run plays in that situation? No one does that. Not one play caller.

Lafleur didn't have to blitz or stunt because he had a decent line. We did. Thus, what LaFleur didn't can't work for us because we don't have the offensive line to put the defense in such a desperate situation.
