Being Seattle, our beloved franchise has been used ALOT strictly a negotiating ploy. Shannon Sharpe comes to mind, he used Seattle to get money elsewhere. As did Jerry Rice, a tad.
Brandon Marshall was brought up last night as a near miss. Albeit via trade, but still. Elway's one of those (ouch...greatest QB and athlete in past century IMO).
Here's one; Robert Smith. IIRC, he took less to stay with the Vikings or may have even retired. I want to say the deal was 5 years at 5M per, which was a hure contract for the day. But, that dude's one of the MOST underrated guys to ever throw on pads. He was a machine, and did it all. He could've had whatever record he wanted, but eventually chose medicine (not sure if he ever got that Dr before his name or not).
Who's yours? There's been a lot of them.
