Being Seattle, our beloved franchise has been used ALOT strictly a negotiating ploy. Shannon Sharpe comes to mind, he used Seattle to get money elsewhere. As did Jerry Rice, a tad.

Brandon Marshall was brought up last night as a near miss. Albeit via trade, but still. Elway's one of those (ouch...greatest QB and athlete in past century IMO).

Here's one; Robert Smith. IIRC, he took less to stay with the Vikings or may have even retired. I want to say the deal was 5 years at 5M per, which was a hure contract for the day. But, that dude's one of the MOST underrated guys to ever throw on pads. He was a machine, and did it all. He could've had whatever record he wanted, but eventually chose medicine (not sure if he ever got that Dr before his name or not).

Who's yours? There's been a lot of them.

Brett Favre qualifies, right? Behring over ruled the coach, and presto, McGuire.

Brett Farve would've amounted to Rex Grossman here in Seattle (yes, that was intentional and apropos). I hope that hurts, Hawkeye.

Wasn't Warren Moon supposed to come here from the CFL?

That's the almost Hawk I first thought about when I first saw the thread title.

Yes, Warren Moon almost came here and ended up with the then Houston Oilers instead. The problem for us was that Houston had a huge advantage in that their head coach at the time, Hugh Campbell, coached Moon up in Edmonton. There's no doubt in my mind that we would have gone to one or two SB's had Moon in his prime had played for us at a time we had Largent and that great defense. All Moon would have had to do would have been to avoid about 10% of Dave Kreig's fumbles.

You realize it was Warren Moon that broke Dave Krieg's then all-time record for fumbles, right?

Only due to longevity. There is no way anyone on the planet could fumble the way Dave Krieg fumbled. I've seen Krieg fumble when there wasn't a player within 5 yards of him. I watched a lot of Warren Moon, from college to his last days with the Seahawks, and I didn't come away with anywhere close to the same impression of him as I did with Krieg.

Dorsett, wouldn't play for expansion team, could of been sick in Seattle but we ended up with Warner. With modern technology maybe his injury wouldn't have ruined him.

Krieg played 18 years in the NFL, 2 more than Moon. Started fewer games than Moon, but appeared in more overall. Works out to .87 Krieg vs .79 Moon fumbles per start. For games appeared in it's .72 Krieg vs .77 Moon. BTW, Krieg's winning percentage in games started is higher than Moon's by a few percentage points. That's probably not the impression most people have when comparing the 2 QB's against each other either. Not implying that Krieg couldn't fumbe the ball in some bizarre ways, but sometimes impressions are just that.

I'm so glad we didn't get Arian Foster. I'm very happy with our Beast acquisition.
