Tony Dorsett and and an airplane ride for Peyton Manning come to mind.

Also coming to mind, Zowert

Didn't peyton turn down our offer to fly him out here?

John Abraham when he left the Jets chose the Falcons over the Hawks. Averaged almost 10 sacks a year for the next 7 years.

Daniel Graham chose Denver over Seattle and became the highest paid tight end to ever fade immediately into obscurity.

Ty Law, though he was pretty washed up when he was seeing which chumps he could get that last payday from. Went to the Chiefs I believe, though for a short amount of time. Hugh Douglas played the Seahawks as well.

Jevon "The Freak" Kearse. I prayed he would choose the Hawks and it came down to us and the Eagles. We all know he didn't choose the Hawks.

Drew Bledsoe.

Because a horrible 2-14 Hawks team beat a horrible 2-14 Patriots team by 4 points.

And, correct me if I'm wring, but the Seahawks played the Pats twice that year...due to a scheduling glitch? IIRC they did one year, a home and away.

Brett Favre qualifies, right? Behring over ruled the coach, and presto, McGuire.
What?? No.... NO. I've never heard that one. Is that why Knox fled the coop?

Ahmad Rashad, he was part of the dispersial draft and we traded him to Minnesota for some defense, I think it was Leurtzama (spelling) and Carl Eller. Remember Ahmad was just coming into his own after Buffalo and had his best days in Minny with Fran. Ahmad was from Oregon and many would know him better as Bobby Moore, he never even got a jersey from the Seahawks his time was so short as part of the franchise. I think part of it was the Expansion team fear as well as the team wanting defenders since Patera was from Minnesota.

Wrong: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/t ... a/1992.htm

To pour salt in the wound, the Patriots nearly won in Week 17 in OT against the Dolphins.

It was 1993 then, when Hawks played NE twice.

Pe is right, that 10-9 game at the Kingdome in 1993 was the only game I ever went to in the Dome, featuring Mirer versus Pats backup Scott Secules. Mirer threw a short TD to Blades with about a minute left. Not sure if Mirer faced Bledsoe in the rematch that season.

Back to the original question, back in the late 1990s it was rumored that Jeff George was coming to Seattle from Oakland, and then around 2000 I recall John Clayton reporting it was nearly a done deal that Elvis Grbac was going to sign with Seattle (after a 28 TD, Pro Bowl season). At the time I was stoked but in retrospect glad neither of those worked out - though George did actually wind up in a Seahawks uniform briefly later on.

Do Nate Odomes and Fred Vinson count as "almost" Seahawks?

Oooohhhh, good call on Jeff George! Outstanding!

George turned the trade down, it was a done deal. Erickson couldn't catch a break.

Mirer had some magic that rookie year. He had the 4th quarter thing down, at least it seemed.

From what I recall, PC&JS flew out to him while he was in Arizona (I think), and he didn't appreciate that they flew out there without scheduling with him/waiting for their turn or something like that and pretty much disregarded the Hawks as one of his choices after that.

He wasn't a FA and was actually with the Broncos at the time. I'm assuming the Hawks and Broncos couldn't see eye to eye for the right compensation for Marshall. Shortly after, he met with the Dolphins and the Broncos agreed to trade him there for two 2nd round picks. His on field contributions were good in Miami, but his head wasn't in the right place and after two years, he was shipped to Chicago for two 3rd round picks.

I think carroll would've worked well with him.... and fwiw in those 2 years marshall put up 2200 yards/9 td's with chad henne..... in the 3 years Rice has been here (including this year puts them at an even number of games played) Rice has put up 1378 yards/11 td's with russell wilson and t-jack.

And those two 2nd rounders turned out to be golden tate, john moffitt, and kris durham (traded down).... I'd go back and make that trade in a heartbeat, especially seeing what he does with an actual QB (1500 yards, 11 td's last year, on pace for 1250/13 this year)

The Seahawks did the Peyton thing, with forcing the 49ers hand being the main motivation. Maybe Peyton would listen, but most likely it'd just coax the 49ers out, while Alex is trying to get a new contract.

Smith got pissed, pouted, spent a day or two in Miami.

Its a cold war.

Thought the Seahawks under Carroll also were kicking the tires on possibly signing Vincent Jackson when he was a RFA with the Chargers? This was after they missed out on Marshall.

Yup. "The San Diego Chargers recently gave permission to the Seattle Seahawks to talk to holdout Pro Bowl receiver Vincent Jackson."

Ole man River. What's happening bro? How's life over at the SeattlePI? Things still goin downhill?[/quote]

Hey, C-Dub! Yes, the PI is indeed going downhill, like a runaway train. There's only a handful of good posters left over there, so I thought I'd check out this forum.
