OK, I'll just add thoughts of other receivers who wouldn't have caught it:
Stefan Diggs
Justin Jefferson
Keenan Allen
Kenny Gollady
Amari Cooper
Tyreek Hill
Jamaar Chase
Davonte Adams
...Mike Williams might have had a shot...better jumper....
But, to me, that looked like many passes that end with, "He couldn't come down with it."

Bro. It's between his hands and his body. So now only those receivers you listed are capable of catching a ball that hits them on the chest? He left his feet, but the fact that he jumped and his arms aren't extended up to recah the ball...its not like he needed a 40" vertical to get it.

He has it next to his chin, with both hands trying to squeeze it to his chest.

If only elite receivers can get that ball, lord help the game.

This is almost as crazy as arguing that this play from last year wasn't open. Wasn't you, but just saying...

I was trying to say that Mike Williams maybe could have caught it, but not those other guys.
I will admit that the TV image isn't good, and a phone image is less adequate.

Indeed. For all his talent, he was out to lunch on plays quite a bit.
Let's just hope Jeudy remains 'stable', where he is, at least on 12 September.
He did make a nice save when Lock got hit in the head and fumbled in Carolina...
Jeudy saved a TD. Lock avoided concussion protocol...I guess.

I am generally not a fan of relying on PFF grades, but I know some here are fond of them..

It was over Swain's head, and behind him. Swain had to put on the brakes and become aerial, to have a risky chance.
Besides those obvious flaws with that pass, the nearest Bear west of Swain was 8 meters west.
And the nearest Bear east was nanometers away.
This was a textbook example of 'throwing a receiver closed'(and into potential life threatening danger)...rather than 'throwing him open'....View attachment 54152
The 710 radio crew, composed of a bunch of guys who actually played in the NFL, said he should have caught it. I'm going to go with their opinions over yours.

FYI, that picture came out really blurry in your post for some reason.

I took some screenshots from the replay film on NFL+. The ball is shown circled in red, with red boxes around Freddie and the defender trailing him.

First image: Geno throws Freddie open by tossing the ball to an open spot. He shows good anticipation on the throw.
Throw to spot

Second image: The ball goes over the head of one defender and heads toward the intended spot. Freddie has a couple of steps on his defender (who is partially obscured by Gabe Jackson).
Over first defender

Third image: The ball is about to bounce off Freddie's hands. The defender is still a couple of steps behind Freddie (you can see his leg in the lower right of the red box)

Corbin Smith(Locked on Seahawks) called it a 'terrible drop'.
If so, what was Dareke Young's drop on the sideline?
How about Parkinson's incompletion in the Pittsburgh endzone last week?
I'll say Young 'should have', but not a terrible drop.
Parkinson's, for me, was 'could have'.
Steve Levy said (Swain) "Would have been a nice catch in heavy traffic".
And re-viewing Swain's skidding landing, I'm not sure he would have retained possesion after crashing to the turf.

Why is a red rectangle drawn around Gabe Jackson?
And if you can see Freddie's feet better than I can, please estimate his elevation above the turf.

Read the captions.
'ball on hands trailing defender' was the caption I read, for Javascript EventHandler 'onmouseover'...I forgot to mouse over.
Can you please tell me Freddie's elevation, before his car crash landing?
And was it really worse than Dareke's 'drop' on the sidelines?

His elevation was maybe a foot or so, which doesn't matter. He's a professional football player in the NFL, not a peewee football kid. That's an easy NFL catch that he should have made. As Michael Bumpus says, "You touch it, you buy it." It was on his hands and he alligator armed it. Period.

OK, then how about Parkinson's terrible 'drop' last week?
How was that?

This is still a debate? Again. That's Swain, trying to catch the ball with his neck and shoulder instead oh his hands. He's played horribly this preseason. If Eskridge were on the field showing even a pulse, Swain would be demoted. Luck for him, his running mates can't catch a cold either.
