Isn’t this consistent with saying he’s in the 12-17 range? I think coming into the year I had him on the high end. Before yesterday many metrics had him in the lower 15-20 range. He played much better yesterday. How is this inconsistent? It’s literally spot on with how everyone who isn’t a Seahawks fan views him.

I’m anything but all over the place. I’m fluid and don’t stick to my guns and won’t move like you do. We should play with the results and be willing to adapt to what we’re seeing. This makes sense though as you had no problem with something calling him top 5 when he was averaging a pick and a touchdown per game. I also don’t want to pay him 45 million dollars next year. Most experts would agree with that too unless his production drastically improves.

Bottom line. Geno is in the 12-17 range and if he has a good line and some weapons he can flirt with top 10 numbers or production. This is the same take nearly every football expert on the planet views him. Feel free to say this is a “hater” take, I’m done caring because it’s far and away the most common take as well. I hope he plays every game like yesterday and proves me wrong.

The title of this thread is “Geno is top 5” and you have a bigger problem with someone saying he’s 12-17. No offense but that’s surprising me.

Geno Smith is one of the best players in the league. What he is doing with this O line is nothing short of incredible. He is looking so poised out there. Should be getting dark horse mvp buzz
Well, after Russell Wilson's performance for Pittsburgh and beating the Jets and Aaron Rodgers, who's up for re-starting the "Russell Wilson is Elite" convo in the NFL Forum? John63, are you out there? Russ actually looked like he might be reading some defensive looks pre-snap.

I don't disagree that Geno is doing well, but instead of a tiresome, pointless slog of debate, how about making it a "Geno for MVP QB Weekly Power Ranking"? thread and sharing a few widely shared ranking? This one has Geno at #10.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/qbr I'm not advocating for THIS specific measure, just that it was easy to find.

I personally view Geno as in the #8-15 range, but if the Hawks line and defense improve, and Hawks go on a winning streak with Geno playing well... Wow that's a lot of IFs. Absent that, I don't see any MVP buzz forming around Geno.
