Okay, admittedly a bit tongue in cheek here but also a touch of truth. Let’s be clear, he is a massive upgrade over Grubb who has no business being an NFL coordinator.

I think he’s starting to show warts. There are games where our number 2 scoring offense looks completely inept. Like yesterday. I’m not sure he is game planning at his best or making in game adjustments like he should.

I need to see a bit more creativity and intuitiveness from him and soon or the Fire Kubiak thread becomes real.

I was just thinking last night when will the Fire Kubiak posts start? Honestly, I thought it might be this week. I have had harsh words for him during our slow starts but I e also seen some positives. Also, not all the weight can be put on him right now. I have seen lays where it looked like there was a good play but someone just didn’t complete their assignment. I’ll say it now (even though I’ll probably still yell at him on gameday) I don’t think he should even be on the hot seat this year.

I actually think he makes adjustments at halftime fairly decently

I am more concerned about some of the game planning coming into the game

The Colts were CLEARLY shorthanded in the secondary, and yet we came out running the ball and playing pretty conservatively

Then we went tempo for a minute, had great success, and he went back to 3 straight runs to kill the drive

What in his game planning dictated that we should be run run run against the NFL's 6th ranked rush defense that was shorthanded in the backend?
This really bugged me as well. They couldn't really stop the pass against us and we killed a momentum gaining drive with 3 straight runs and settled for a FG.

Subsequently, I was frustrated that we didn't adjust on defense until the second half when it was clear that Rivers was highly inaccurate past 10 yards.

Maybe they were trying to conceal some things going into Thursday and almost overplayed their hand?

Look at McVay. An offensive mastermind. No, I don’t expect Kubiak to be McVay per se, but show a little more creativity and responsiveness in game. If it ain’t working, change it up a bit. I want to see more of that is all. And I also agree, this year his seat is and should be safe. Let’s see how we feel next year.

Back in Seattle.
Watching Rivers and Taylor carve up our defense while watching us getting stuffed at the line on offense was tough yesterday.

It's easy to blame the coordinators but in the end the players need to block and tackle, catch and run, and basically do their jobs. There is only so much the coaches can do to get them in the right place during the game. Much like the running game. Is it really the RB's fault when he's getting met in the backfield right after the handoff play after play.

Yesterday a couple of key drops by some of our most reliable players got things off to a bad start. Most of the first half was very forgettable. The OC can't fix poor execution with "creativity."

And no, I don't want to fire Kubiak this off season.

I assume Kubiak is under Mike's directive to run the ball. We are a running team that plays good defense. Minimize mistakes. We just don't have the personnel to get the job done. The plan appears to be to wear down the defense then bring in more and more passing attack in the latter stages of the game. I saw a play called where the Colts defense was stacked to the right side and we ran right towards it for a two yard loss. Too many plays for loss When the box is stacked its simple math throw the ball. If there isn't enough time then there needs to be an effective max protect protection scheme. Why isn't this getting done?

I mean when you net 0 yards on two run plays, your RB misses blocking assignments, the TE lines up on the wrong side of the ball, your star Wr drops an easy pass... the first few drives can look like dong.

Frankly I feel like Zachs straight line running style is just better suited for us and I wish he'd get more carries

I dont really have issues with the play calling... the execution of it I do though

Really?? Did you even watch the game??

Rivers got 120 total yards passing. Yeah he just completely carved up our defense

The more I watch us play and lay these eggs, particularly with DLine men camping out in our backfield .3 seconds after the snap, the more I believe the rumor that we are tipping our hand. Our O is designed to win .5 seconds of advantage as defenses are forced to wait to see whether we are running or passing from a given set. They know what we are doing when the ball is snapped. That's not normal.

If true, Mebane should just spill the beans the let everyone know what the tell is, so they can fix it. What is this secret that is tipping off defenses?

I think there is much more to the recent struggles than that though.

The blueprint is out. Our OL has been exposed. Can we adjust? I think so

I think he's earned a second year in Seattle (so far, at least). Now, it's what happens in the off-season, and the results at the end of next season that can change my opinion. If Seattle beefs to the interior OL, and gets themselves the right RB for his system, and he still can't spark anything in the run game, then they should consider moving on from him.

His play calling can be predictable at times. You can almost guarantee that if one of our RB's breaks off a nice run, the 2 or 3 plays that follow suit will also be run plays.

Execution is no doubt an issue, but it's a little too much of a correlation between that Rams game where they had our number and how every defense has played us since. Unless there is evidence of Kubiak changing nothing and walking into every subsequent game with the same plan, or a massive failure in coaching that results in us being woefully unprepared, we have to be doing something that other teams are reading.

Fired after most of a season or a full season might be too harsh. Not sure he's shooting shots with a full quiver right now. The offense has flashed in some games, but has also been bailed out more often than not by DEF/ST.

Or, we don't have the personnel to successfully run the scheme that Kubiak is installing. I'm looking at the o-line. Schneider can only bring in those pieces so fast. And don't talk to me about the trade deadline - there weren't starting linemen available.

We have the line that we have. I know we want to focus on this year (and we should!) but I'd wager Schneider has a shopping list already for next years draft and free agency. I'm sure the line will get addressed some more.

Come on man Rivers threw for 120 yards total against us and the leagues best running back got 87 yards against us. Those two really carved us up. 😆😀😆😀
You think that's okay? I don't. We had to pull out a miracle to win. Against a 44 year old off the couch. It's not fantasy football stats. Converting on crucial downs is what was happening.
