I’m not a fantasy guy but I had to chuckle a bit watching NFL Live showing the Fantasy QB ranking. Geno 25th? I think he should be a bit higher (15?) but the real insult was Daniel Jones at 23rd. Ain’t no way I see Daniel flippin’ Jones better than Geno.

That's not what they're saying. Teams that are losing will produce more garbage time passing stats. Howell was high up in NFL in 2023 passing yards for the Commanders. I don't play FF, but if I did i'd probably pick Jones before Smith. Not real football.

If you want to be insulted then Chris Simms' 2024 QB list would be a good place to start.

That does seem low given the arsenal Geno has in the passing game. KW3 and Charbs will probably get their fair share of opportunities in the red zone, but neither have displayed enough health to convince me that they'll eat too much into Geno's numbers.

From a fantasy perspective, I do understand the hesitation to draft Geno before like the 10th round in a 12-team league. We don't know entirely how the offense will run under Grubb and how much ball control will be emphasized. The defense SHOULD be improved, but I don't see us grinding out 10-6 victories every week either.

Regardless, I know fantasy rankings are more about opportunity for counting stars rather than who is the "better" player, but Daniel Jones's "breakout" season only saw 15 passing TDs and if the Giants struggle, which I think they will because Jones is complete trash, I imagine Daboll wouldn't hesitate to send Lock or Devito out. Keep in mind though, Jones had 700 rushing yards and 7 TDs on the ground when he started all 16 games two years ago, while Geno only runs when he has to. I remember Cam Newton being a beast for me in fantasy forever ago in a season where his passing stats were comparatively mediocre.

What did Geno finish ranked last year?

I like it. Its an idiotic position for them to have him at, but it serves as more motivation for a guy who lives on chips.

If this offense clicks and everyone stays healthy, Geno is a top 10 QB, fantasy or otherwise.

Good insight...Again, I am not a FF guy so there are elements at play here I am not considering.

PS, Daniel Jones? Get out of here with that Jughead weak sauce.

I tend to ignore fantasy stuff. They look at the game way differently. They just want whatever type of point system they use.

For me, ideally, we wouldn't have a top fantasy QB. I'd want relatively low attempts, efficient play and conversion stats, and a balanced attack that rushes more often than most other teams.

If you have all of those - congrats, it means you're usually ahead of the other team.

I'm wondering if maybe they're looking at a new young head coach and some traditions of Seahawk football and are expecting us to run more than pass, driving Geno's fantasy value down. Just spitballin'...

Geno isn't considered much of a running threat, so that brings him down quite a bit.

Setting aside Daniel Jones who is not a winner, I can understand the Geno ranking. I recognize we have some homer glasses, but if you impartially look at Geno he has been in the league forever and unable to make any legitimate noise and without a 1985 Bears defense we aren't winning a SB with him.

From a fantasy perspective, our offense has been underwhelming for years. I would not think Geno is a sexy fantasy pick either for that reason.

I saw the rankings on TV when I was at the gym a little bit ago. They also have Bryce Young ahead of Geno for some reason.

I know he was just drafted last year, but dude threw 11 TDs in 16 starts as a rookie, and I can't name any of his receivers.

It’s actually pretty fair. In fantasy running QB’s are the premium and pocket guys like Geno who are throwing for 20 touchdowns are terrible. To finish top 5 as a non runner you need to have stats the elite guys do. 35 touchdowns or more. Josh Allen had almost 50 touchdowns rushing/running and that blows a guy like Geno out.

Just looked it up on FantasyPros because this thread made curious. Geno averaged 15.7 fantasy points per game last season. That was good for 25th in the league at the QB position, below guys like Sam Howell, Justin Fields, and Russell Wilson.

They're not saying that Geno is the 25th best QB. They're saying they project him to score a similar amount of fantasy points per game as he did last year, which would put him around 25th at the QB position.

ESPN has the Seahawks ranked 22 in pre-season power rankings. (Aug 19)
Tampa at 21, Bears at 17, Steelers at 16, Jags at 14.
Denver at 31, Arizona at 29, Tennessee at 24, Minnesota at 23.

...not the same as FF, but it seems like everyone's just throwing darts. I may be wrong, but is it even more random this season than ever? ... maybe new rules are having an impact...or maybe sports writers are becoming more inept. I guess any of them that really knew what they were talking about make a better living betting FanDuel or Draft Kings.

Does that make it a good year to be flying under the radar?

Btw, Chris Simms ranks Geno at #19 in his 2024 list of QBs. Russell Wilson is 21, Brock Purdy is 17. I don't have a huge problem with it. I think the players between 10 and 20 are difficult to rank. He could be higher, but an argument could be made for all of them.

Its all about points. Jones will probably be throwing a lot more than Geno plus Geno isn't great in the red zone. It's really not a slight to Geno. Crappy teams are always playing from behind so the QB's usually get more attempts.
