Hull City appear to be for sale now. And it appears to be because their current owner couldn't get the teams named changed to Hull Tigers.

Quick thought. Arsenal caught a fair amount of flack for signing Welbeck, not because they signed him but because they spent 16 million for him. Now I think that might be exagerating how stupid of a deal it is. I mean when you compare it with Balotelli who went to Liverpool for the same price, it does seem like a bad deal. But when you realize that Arsenal signed an English striker for 16m, while Welbeck's former club, United spent 30m on a young English left back, it doesn't seem all that crazy.

i think United have gotten plenty of raised brows about the Luke Shaw deal.

But the two deals arent very comparitive, in honesty. Shaw was signed on potential. Welbeck was signed for immediacy.

the Welbeck deal got a fair amount of reasonable questions because: it was late on, Arsenal needed a striker, they passed on all of the main names out there, they say they want to win a title, and yet signed a striker from a main rival who was happy to give up for the same price another main rival paid for a far better player in the same position.

The whole thing seemed desperate is all. (and its been mainly Arsenal fans in a furor over it, although I imagine the two goals against Switzerland has everyone calmed).

Welbeck will be fine, will help Arsenal. He's 23, is in no means a finsihed product, and will be playing in front of a far better midfield than he has ever played with. But he has to score (which he rarely does). If he doesnt, the pressure will ratchet up.

I do get that. But signing anyone for that much purely based on potential is almost like betting your life savings on a single game of blackjack. If it doesn't pay off, then it becomes a massive waste of time and money.

certainly a gamble... not necessarily in the transfer fee (these fees are relative to the buying clubs desires and have no real comparitive value...plus, they could easily sell him for 20mil in 4 years even if he doesnt become world class), i'm shocked at the wage they gave him.

It seems Spurs might be without a home for a season while their new home is built. I suggest they ask Charlton, Milwall, Crystal Palace or even Wimbledon.

Welcome back PL...

Intriguing match this morning...

I didn't see it. Just woke up and am watching this Chelsea match. Swansea are playing some decent football. I'm teling you, United will be lucky to finish in 6th, even with all the money they've spent.

Anyway, have to think Wenger will be happy with a desmond this morning. Pellegrini must be sweating though. City won't win the league with the same kind of inconsistent form they showed last year.

Swansea always are scrappy...great goal by Costa to eke us out a tie before the half..just woke up as well...wish i had seen the ars-man match

Opposite to be honest. Arsenal scrapped back to take a lead (with help from Clattenburg) only to concede late and draw.

City deserved the full three at the end. Two posts in extra time.

Wilshere very good. Ozil a no show again. Sanchez showing why Barca wanted to offload him, but was worth 35 mill

Take back what I said about Swansea. They're shite at the back. Costa's been allowed to roam free back there all day. Silly really. Chelsea's league.

Oscar almost scored with a fifa move. crazy.

Just a bummer...poor in the back third for the first 15 cost us.

Champs league Tuesday but it will go sour fast if we struggle on either side of the ball

Gerrard's fine with the right protection. But without Sturridge it looks like our attack lacks invention

Welbeck looks better than Balotelli on current form. Mario didnt look that bothered at all.

Liverpool looked really poor, like a random collection of individuals just cobbled together.
