Here's a question. Do you over-draft the top Guard as a mid-first round pick (assuming you think that Guards aren't worth a mid-first round grade)?
I wouldn't do that just to take a guard. Depends on who it is and what talent is available at other positions. I don't mind overdrafting a little if he's the best pick for the team at that spot though. You can always try to trade down, but you risk getting burnt if someone else in that range likes him.

The big problems start when you over draft any position and over pay for any position.

Been starting to look into later round QB options… this one has caught my eye - Brady Cook at Missouri. I’ll be interested to see his combine and evaluation - but I like what I see. We have to get someone like this in a mid round.

I understand why people say ’build oline first’ but I don’t believe it’s that simple. It does not work that way that you build an oline and then you just have it ready waiting for the QB. It’ll go to waste if you don’t have the guy at QB and it’s hard to hold it together for years if you don’t succeed. Also the good oline will bring enough wins to stay out of top spots in the draft, so it’s hard to get the guy.

I like the QB first idea. Then all possible focus on protecting him. And he should be good enough to elevate other skill players on the team, even if they are not former first rounders.

But of course, it’s really hard too unless you are willing to suck for a couple of seasons, which will bring other problems again..

Leonard Riley out of Norte Dame would be an excellent mid round qb pick up …

The problem is he's going top 5 so JS would have to expend a lot of draft capital to move up 15 spots.

After Sanders is Ward and then the talent drops off from there.

Not a strong QB draft.
Disagree with the draft report, it is from NFL Draft Buzz i take anything they do with a huge grain of salt. If I was to rate the top 30 college players regardless of position Sanders would be out of the top 30

Yea he looked good against byu. Guess having an easy schedule will hide major flaws.

One bowl game does not make a career

He has no O-Line.

His footwork, anticipation and mind are top notch

Above average to good arm and he's technical

He's gonna be damn good in the league

You can disagree with the specifics of the Draft Buzz report as these things are subjective regardless of the source but what really isn't up for debate is that this coming QB draft class is thin.

Sam Howell didn’t show much composure out there, he was on the spot, but I think Lock had more composure than Howell.
Drew is almost 4 years older than Sam, so he should be more comfortable. Sam should be better next season, but he has a long way to go.

I would agree with the 2025 Draft class for QBs is underwhelming IMO that was a big reason the previous class was over valuing QBs, the 2026 class looks to be pretty good

If I am a GM looking for a QB for 2025 it is a quick 1 year fix that doesn’t go south too bad
