I understand why people say ’build oline first’ but I don’t believe it’s that simple. It does not work that way that you build an oline and then you just have it ready waiting for the QB. It’ll go to waste if you don’t have the guy at QB and it’s hard to hold it together for years if you don’t succeed. Also the good oline will bring enough wins to stay out of top spots in the draft, so it’s hard to get the guy.
I like the QB first idea. Then all possible focus on protecting him. And he should be good enough to elevate other skill players on the team, even if they are not former first rounders.
But of course, it’s really hard too unless you are willing to suck for a couple of seasons, which will bring other problems again..
