I"m not convinced that the drop off between Price and the others is that much. I'd have much rather seen us get a CB that could have kept up with Puke..I hate seening that guy gash us. I doubt if those two rated CB's will be yet available, come time for us to pick, but I wouldn't mind us getting Ponds if he's still around. I think he would be ideal to cover receivers like Puka
Obviously Schneider thinks the difference between Price and what they have now is bigger impact than the improvement then get by drafting a CB in that spot.

Poor positional value.
Wasn't good enough to even be the starter in college.
His kick returning skills will either be wasted by using Shaheed, or if he returns kicks we'd be losing the only thing that Shaheed brings to the team, as our offense was worse when he was on the field.

Not a good use of our 1st. It basically makes it impossible for both our 1st rounder and Shaheed to be good choices. One or both of them will be mistakes.

It's far from impossible for them both to be good choices if one of them doesn't return kicks. If Price is a good RB for us and Shaheed continues to be an elite returner, they were both good choices.

Also, if Shaheed misses time, we've got an awfully good back up plan for returns.

All those talking about the return game, remember that Horton should be back this year. I'd say the order is Shaheed, Horton, and then Price, if needed. ;)

Shaheed moonlighted as a borderline #1 WR for the Saints for a bit so his value goes beyond just as a return specialist. Price is going to start out on special teams and third down specialist. But his hard running style will earn him time on early downs too.

This is my problem with rookie RBs:

  • Blitz Pickup/Pass Protection: Scouting reports describe him as an "adventure" in pass protection with reps where he was late on blitz pickup. While he is considered competent at redirecting incoming rushers or chipping a defender, holding his area of grass against a direct rusher is considered a work in progress.
So.. just like K9

Zero problem with the pick..Charbs will be lucky to see the field before Dec and the guy we signed is meh. Holani and Macintosh are not moving the needle as fill ins. Needed to do something and it'll be cheap for a few years.

The best argument they can have is the pick value.

There were higher value/ranking picks available. May not help the Seahawks but they were higher value
In my estimation if they are not a help to the Seahawks they are not a higher value. Also, yes the Seahawks window is now but we were already pretty well stocked for now in a general sense. Getting a good RB was a spot we needed to improve for both now and the future. Our GM and Coach are trying to improve now, but also trying to build a dynasty.
