Teams catalog another's tendencies. What side you throw situation probability ( 3rd and 3 they pass 70% of time etc) IMO complex offensives were much more common in the 80s and early 90s. The 49ers and the later WCO clones were really all about picks, which are not legal anymore Now it is all really just matchups and how you match up
.

We are stuck now because of the OL. We run pretty good behind the left side but passing, with McQ unable to contain any edge rush the left side needs help from the guard and Unger. Much of the time a TE as well. Sweezy has not progressed. Bowie looks OK for a rookie and if he was the only problem area we would be fine with letting him develop. The OL as we all know is a mess.

The PC offense is run first and then everything keys off it. They stack the box we throw to the middle. Inside the 20 pass to score. Without a consistent run game we are sputtering as we can all see. I don't see it as the play calling. I put most of it on the poor OL play

Teams can't double up the wides easily when you are running up the gut at will

I agree with most of this, but it looks to me like our left edge issue is also affected by how seldom Wilson steps up into the pocket by design. That isn't a criticism; Wilson's physical attributes certainly favor rolling out and utilizing his mobility over moving forward and blocking sight lines. It does cause a perception issue with our tackles in that they have to run that edge rusher 3-4 yards further than normal if they want to avoid it looking like Wilson was pressured.

His concepts are painfully obvious and basic. Verts, boot, and now slants. That's about it. The play action game caught fire today in the 2nd half, but we still have no ability to pick apart underneath coverage. Another week, and nothing inside the hashes.

This.

Danny follows up by noticing that Seattle did indeed try some Saints-esque intermediate stuff against the Titans. Teams are indeed just dropping their safeties into their own end zone to take away the crushing big play, and it's working because PC/Bevell are too disinterested in anything else. It's an encouraging sign from the last game.

Buying time for our Receivers to get open, also takes away time for the pass protection to hold up.
Our Receivers need to run better/crisper routes, but they need to get to their designated catch zones a LOT quicker, because the timing, and rhythm isn't developing, and it all dumps right back into Wilsons lap.
How many here, remember how Steve Largent and his QB would stay after practice sessions, to work out timing routes?
It sure would be nice to find a good receivers Coach, hell, is Largent available? LOL

Yep! And while it's fair to say we are predictable right now, that can't all be put on coaching. I remember interviews very early in the season -I think just after game one- where the coaches and players talked how the offense 'got too fancy' and how they had get back to what they know they can do well.

This tells me that Bevell was definitely trying to change things up, but, for what ever reason, the players weren't guite ready or capable of executing the new plays. Maybe he tried to incorporate too much too fast. Bevell might have switched to amore gradual approach after that; however, OL issues probably brought most of his plans halt. Necessity now forces him to incorporate a short-passing game, which is probably a good thing.
