No doubt. Once they leave college, doesn't matter where they went. They'll either be a good NFL player or not. Would love to see them trade for him. Been told a few times there's no chance it happens. Well, it's the NFL, there's always a chance.

Yeah, last night sure didn't help his chances of becoming available, but these things can change fast. If Darnold leads the Vikings to at least the NFC Championship Game, it'll be forgotten. It's difficult to have faith in the Vikings doing that, but they didn't win 14 games by luck and momentum going into the playoffs is extremely overrated anyway. Statistically, there's no connection between winning playoff games and being "the hot team" going in.

Not

Not saying there's anything wrong with Penix, but Freshbox was dissing McCarthy because he injured his knee. My point was most people around here would not consider that a reason not to draft/trade for Penix.
That’s fair. I think people here knee jerk over silly things and think they know more than the actual folks running these teams do. They don’t, but oh well.

Thing is.....many flat out DO think they know more than the coaches and front office.
Yeah which is hilarious.

I read today that JS hasn’t done anything for us in 15 years. I wonder where that SB banner came from? 🤔

Yeah. A deep playoff run by the Vikings is the only way they would entertain the idea of trading JJ
Gotta be the NFC Championship game at least.

However I doubt the team trades for JJ anyway even if it was an option. He doesn't fit a lot of the criteria that JS typically looks at for a QB.

Just the QBs he’s been interested in and what’s been reported he looks for in the position.

JJ coming out of college has been stated to have an okay arm, not overly athletic and mainly handed it off on a run dominant team. JS has been interested in QBs like Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, drafted Russell Wilson.

These guys are all typically big (minus Russ), very athletic and have cannons for arms. One quality that JS has been stated to like is a great arm, which is why JS likes Geno, he’s a highly physically gifted QB. JS had also showed interest in Ewers at Texas. Ewers has a great arm.

I never bought the Mcarthy hype. The discussion is moot thought they aren't going to trade him.

Ewers doesnt have a great arm, he's got an average NFL arm.

The thing about Ewers, and I could be wrong about this, is that nothing NFL jumps off the screen to me in terms of natural talent or developed skill. I mean, the guy made himself into a starting QB on a nationally prominent team. No taking that away from him. I could, however, see him finding some kind of place/role on NFL teams that keep him in the league for some years.

We'll see...

Judging what the other 5 QBs did, I’d be willing to gamble a trade for JJ. Compared to 2025 QBs and 2026 qb class, JJ would have been the top QB in both of those classes.

I agree that nothing NFL jumps out on Ewers, why waste a pick on that?
