Umm most teams are owned by evil billionaires and many of them have run successful franchises (Kraft, Kroenke, Bisciotti, etc).
Just like politicians, most of them are type A narcissists. No point in liking any of them. Just hope they don't ruin the team. And given Bezos track record, I'd trust him to manage the team better than I'd trust a lot of other evil billionaires. He did start Amazon from nothing. He didn't inherit his wealth at all.
More than that, he had the business vision to see that the company could make a lot of money selling the expertise Amazon obtained in keeping a web site online and relatively secure despite enormous traffic and despite being an enormous target for hackers.
In 2023, only 16% of the company's revenue came from AWS, but 74% of the company's profit did too. Selling cloud services is a lot more profitable than retail. That doesn't keep AWS from treating its employees as disposable, of course. It's not very hard to get a job at AWS with a six-figure salary. It
is pretty hard to stay and to
want to stay, though. Burnout and turnover are ridiculously high.
