Dave Canales, resulting in GeNo played like GeYes, probowl and comeback player of the year. Geno even led the league in some statistical category? Canales enjoyed success after this year, ending in a head coaching job with the Panthers. I think Pete made a mistake not promoting Canales to OC when he had the chance.

2023
Greg Olson, resulting in GeNO playing steady if not inspirational, but still in the probowl. Greg didn't coach in 2024?

2024
Charles London, under Charles, Geno turned into GeNO or as @SoulfishHawk correctly termed GenPICK. From 2006 - 2020, Charles worked as RB coach, his career changed in 2021 to become a QB coach, not sure why we hired him. Whose idea was that? He didn't have any history with Grubb, and no career crosspaths.

Did Schneider had his fingers in the hiring of Grubb and his staffs?

-- I mentioned this in another thread this morning. His three previous QB coaching years were less than inspiring in Atlanta and Tennesse.

I think DK and Tyler had their worst years of their careers. DK was either unused or ineffective in the RZ. Tyler was really a shell of his former self, not the productive 3rd down slot we are accustom to.

I genuinely think it's a combination of compounding factors that this year was offensively inept in some cases. The bad oline made it more difficult to run. The playcalling was uninspired and seemed agnostic to the skill players. Lockett's age and DK's bad route running really played factors. Geno played hesitant and his mistakes weren't as easily hidden by either good plays or good playmakers making up for it.

Most media experts showed supposes for our players, most dot net experts shouted release GeNO now.

The OL is the key.

Canales when he came to the Bucs had to find a way to cobble together a better offensive unit and how the offense would transition. Goedeke was a failure at guard and they were planning to kick him out to RT. They drafted Mauch as a rookie and Wirfs was switching from RT to LT.

Of course Canales focus on running the ball more and letting Mayfield focus on a quicker release helped hide the flaws on the interior of the OL for the Bucs. Bucs continued to the trend of fixing their OL by drafting Barton this year round 1 to play as a center and drafting Bucky Irving to improve their run game.

Carolina comes knocking for Canales and Canales goes to work by drafting a RB(Brooks) and fixing the interior OL. Then they spent their first pick on a big bodied WR like Legette who is similar to Metcalf in play style. Young looks more decisive throwing the football now and quicker which is a cornerstone trait that Canales harps on over and over again with the QBs he has coached.

Geno is thinking too much out there post snap this year on offense and it shows. In the past Geno is at this best when he is able to do more pre snap reads.

Great analysis. Thank you.

Well to go into more depth and greater detail the 4 verts that Grubb wants to run relies on having a super pass blocking OL so if Grubb sticks around you need more pass blocking studs on the OL and another two way TE.

Seahawks current personnel on offense are more suited for a WCO/McVay styled offense so if Canales, Waldron or Schottenheimer were the OCs this year I am confident in saying the offense would look better overall.

So I am not as hard on Grubb as most are to be honest.
