Following the game next Thursday against the Cowboys the team will need to cut 15 players if they haven't already reduced the number from 90 by then.

Here's an article with an initial opinion on those prospective cuts:

http://www.fieldgulls.com/2016/8/19/125 ... oster-2016

WR EZ Nwachukwu

TE Joe Sommers

OL Will Pericak

FB Jon Amosa

CB/RB George Farmer

DE Tylor Harris

LB Kache Palacio

LB Quayshawn Nealy

CB Trovon Reed

S Keenan Lambert

CB DeAndre Elliott

LB Pete Robertson

DE Josh Shirley

WR Deshon Foxx

WR Montario Hunter

I disagree with the Farmer, Amosa, and Pericak initial cuts. What is your view?

My belief is the following could be vulnerable as well:

DT- Sealver Siliga,
RB- Zac Brooks,
DT/FB- Tani Tupou,
TE- Clayton Echard,
LS- Nolan Frese

Might as well report these comings and goings together.

Pete's comments about Williams play in practice have been very positive, and the team's history with this coaching stafff is each of the marginal roster guys find they get slow played compared to the guys who are clearly looking to be cut.

I hear you though and just as likely then is the possibility that Kevin Smith gets cut too.

I just don't think either is likely a cut in the cuts to 75.

Somehow the team needs to figure a way to keep McEvoy, each game he grows as a receiver. He has ability as a S, and now as a TE. He's an uber athlete and raw but is growing as a pro player game to game. I genuinely believe with the right coaching he could become special and exceptional.

There are going to be some hard decisions to make for the coaches and the team will likely lose some talented players. It was clear however at the end of thie game vs. Dallas that the Hawks depth was clearly superior to what the Cowbays had on the field.

The OLine is going to be just fine and will make us happy. They play nasty, and I like that.

Here's a few notable cuts announced via Twitter, but reported here:

http://www.fieldgulls.com/2016/8/29/127 ... acker-2016

1. Brandon Browner, CB/S , cut
2. Sealver Siliga, DT , IR
3. Montario Hunter, WR, waived
4. Deshon Foxx, WR , waived/injured
5. Kristen Sokol, G/C , waived
6. Kyle Coleman, FB/LB, waived
7. DeAngelo Tyson, DT, waived

updated to here, plus C- Patrick Lewis who was waived (maybe this news is premature as differing reports indicate he's being shopped. For now I have him as being waived).

The Siliga IR designation is interesting as Sealver Siliga is only under contract for this season. The only way this designation is advantageous financially to the team is if he is recalled from IR

Here is the latest transaction report from the team http://www.Seahawks.com :

"Waived/injured RB George Farmer, CB Trovon Reed, DE Josh Shirley, WR Kevin Smith.

Waived RB Zac Brooks, LB Quayshawn Nealy, LB Pete Robertson, G Kristjan Sokoli, C Patrick Lewis."

We'd anticpated the waiver of Patrick Lewis and the numbers are now down to 75.

Updated.

Finding the 22 other guys the team needs to move from the roster is going to be painful. There is a lot of talent that will be without a job here next week. This is tough for the FO.

Many won't be out of work long. Other teams will be cherry picking.

Several of these guys are excellent players, just a bit raw as yet, it's the annual angst. Without a doubt, it sucks to lose the talent. Sorting though the 75 to find the 22 leads to many pros and cons and conversations regarding positional depth, developmental talent, upside, downside, risk, reward, vulnerability, etc., etc..

Don't envy the FO at this time of year.

Looking at the remaining 75 and the initial post depth chart there appears to be (in my opinion) 33 players who may or may not be on the bubble based upon what we've seen so far and positional depth. Many of these guys, if released, will be back on the PS or will find themselves part of the ghost roster and may return as the season progresses. If the team brings back 10 which is historically unusual as JS usually finds a PS roster addtion or two from other squads where the depth needs competition or the player involved was high on the team's radar before the draft or whatever. For some the likelihhod of the player clearing waivers will be a factor as will be health issues.

Here's the 33 I believe are on the bubble at present:

OFFENSE (17)

QB
1. 5- Jake Heaps

RB-
2. 36- Alex Collins,
3. 26- Troymaine Pope,

FB-
4. 45- Taniela Tupou,

WR-
5. 11- Kenny Lawler,
6. 6- Tanner McEvoy,
7. 18- Kasen Williams (E),
8. 19- Douglas McNeil,
9. 14- Antwan Goodley,
10. 7- Uzoma Nwachukwu,

LT-
11. 74- George Fant,

RG-
12. 62- Jahri Evans,
13. 75- Will Pericak,

RT-
14. 69- Terry Poole,

TE-
15. 86- Brandon Williams,
16. 85- Clayton Echard,
17. 40- Joe Sommers

DEFENCE (15)

LDE-
18. 64- Tylor Harris

LDT-
19. 46- Brandon Bryant,
20. 74- Justin Hamilton,

SOLB-
21. 47- Eric Pinkins,

MLB-
22. 52- Brock Coyle (R),
23. 48- Steve Longa,
24. 46- Kache Palacio,

WOLB-
25. 58- Kevin Pierre-Louis,

LCB-
26. 27- Tharold Simon,
27. 21- Tye Smith,

RCB-
28. 28- Marcus Burley (R),
29. 1- DeAndre Elliott,

FS-
30. 23- Steven Terrell,
31. 40- Tyvis Powell,

SS-
32. 38- Keenan Lambert

SPECIAL TEAMS (1)

LS-
33. 48- Nolan Frese

Some of these, above named, several here will disagree with, but this is just my opinion. Are there others I have obviously missed, or should be included? What are the weak positions on the DC?

Of the above 33 names there are several I don't think are in deep trouble keeping their jobs of acquiring a job on the 53 man roster.

A couple of guys there that I think the team would likely try to keep are:

One of the WRs: Williams, Lawler, and McEvoy (?TE?)

One of the OGs: Evans or Pericak

TE- Brandon Williams (at least until Graham is playing)

DT- Brandon Bryant

One of the ILBs Coyle or Longa

WOLB- Pierre-Louis

SOLB- Pinkins

CB- Simon, & Burley

FS- Powell

Several of those noted above here and in the prior post may for sure be conscripted to the PS where elligible.
