I'm not sure what purpose trashing a Seattle fan for being reserved in their optimism serves, though. People deal with decades of losing baseball and busted prospects their own way. The simple fact that people are starting to tune back into the Mariners at all, especially with football season about to start, is incredible.

Sweet! Everybody gets a participation trophy. To be honest, fair weather fans are of little significance. That is, until they decide to let everyone know that they are a bandwagon fan and at that point I reserve the right to let them know what I think about their pseudo fandom.

See, I dont view myself as fair weather...

But i will admit that I have lost genuine interest in the Seattle Mariners over many of seasons of the last 15 years. I come back every year. and once the spiral begins I check out.

Sports are entertainment. If the team fails to entertain me than I dont bother. If that's "fair weather" than I guess that's me.

You are so full of it that it's not worth the time to care what you think on this silly subject given the fact that when I lived in Washington from 1992-2006 I was a season ticket holder with the Mariners. Since I don't live there anymore it seems a waste of money to continue doing that right?

I happen to love baseball so I pull for the Royals success unless they play the Mariners it's similar to rooting for Jacksonville until they're up against the Seahawks.

You do not view yourself as a fair weather fan and then continue your post detailing how you are, in fact, a fair weather fan. :34853_doh:

I'm a fair weather fan because the team fails to capture my interest deep into seasons, and then I go through the whole process again, since 1981?

whats a real fan then?

I'd like to see things from your point of view but I can't seem to get my head that far up my ass.

Congrats on your season tickets. Your recent comments still define you as a person that will watch when the team is doing well, but easily walk away when there is any signs of trouble. I follow the team through thick and thin. Same reason I keep watching when they are destined to lose 100 games. I guess that it is not within my character to tuck tail and run when the going gets tough.

That is because you past that point years ago. You would have to retract quite a bit to get to my depth.

Do you even see what you type? I watched them for years and most the time they sucked. I don't now because even if I had money to burn watching out of market games I'm asleep far before the game ends because I'm 2 hours ahead of PST!

what a winner....

i think what you are is a bit of a self indulgent a-hole. Great for you that you enjoy watching your team. So do i. Im more interested and invested when the team is competitive. dont care if they win. just competitive. when they stop, baseball becomes less of an interest. when I was 8 i went because I loved baseball. sat through years of bad ball. then great ball, then bad ball. I'm not a child anymore that cant separate the purpose of professional sport from anything else. I watch my kids play instead.

grown people hammering others for their lack of fandom are simply children who've yet to develop into their adult skins. thank god the internet is here for you to show the depth of your shallowness.

as if the world wasnt a shallow puddle of ankle deep s--- already...currystopstherun is here to tell us all we arent even good enough baseball fans

have a word with yourself

Come on Curry... thats about how 95% of fans of any team in any sport take their support. There is rarely objectivity, and even with it you rarely find it on an internet message board.

i'd say enjoy it. let others play both sides of the fence. atleast its relavent baseball talk in August.

I will be part of the 5% that will call them on their BS. That is as much of a right of mine as their disingenuous "fandom."

You are not the arbiter of fandom, so who cares what you think?

There is nothing worse than people that act like jackasses calling others out on being a fan.

I have read enough of your tripe in the European soccer threads to know that you are holding a fistful of stones surrounded by glass walls.

As far as your attempted personal attack, I am more than able to differentiate the importance between a sport and anything else. This happened with the birth of my first child. I am still a diehard sports fan, but with levity. Because your commitment is paper thin does not make me unable to differentiate real life and fantasy.

If anyone here is self indulgent, it is you. That, coupled with a couple of cups of narcissism.

I love you.

Funny, because I believe that there is nothing worse than fair weather fans. Weird, differing opinions.
