From the CBA:

In the event this Contract is terminated by the Club prior to 4:00 p.m., New York time, Tuesday, the Club shall not be obligated to pay Player for that week.

I don't think the Seahawks owe the 3 guys released from the practice squad any money. I suppose they could choose to pay them. We may never know for sure how it all went down or why.

I’m just going by the past as we seem to try to rotate certain players on and off the PS to keep their “ready squad” at maximum + capacity

From Brady's twitter, sounds like the Seahawks are planning on bringing some of these guys back so they can get more of them paid. The 'shadow roster' for sure. it makes sense to keep guys in town so if they need to bring them back it's way easier.

This has been the pattern now for the last two seasons, sort of a sneaky way of keeping a bigger pool of familiar players around. Seems to be completely legit and apparently acceptable to the fringe guys who seem to be able to hang around the team on a third level shadow squad ‘ready squad’ basis. It’d not surprise at at all if they keep their own lockers and continue to train with the team. Wonder if this pattern will apply to all the PS players or just a small group of 6-8?

I imagine the team really does pay them so as to ensure their desire to stick around. I’d be curious to know if other teams do something similar. Better to be paid less but still playing pro ball with pro coaching even on a ready squad type basis than be out looking for work.

Reversed yesterday’s transaction. As suspected just jugging the PS to keep players around that we feel may provide more depth.

signed cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles, running back Damien Martinez and tackle Amari Kight to their practice squad on Wednesday

Defensive tackle Anthony Campbell, defensive end Jalan Gaines and guard Sataoa Laumea were released a day after signing to the practice squad.

This roster churn seems to be something that other teams should be curious about. Fortunately the Seahawks have the cap freedom to do this with zero real concern. At this pace my estimate of greater than 350 roster moves may be significantly low.

Here's another report: https://www.fieldgulls.com/seattle-...mien-martinez-back-to-practice-squad-nfl-news

back in to the PS for today:

cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles, running back Damien Martinez and tackle Amari Kight.

Out again:

Defensive tackle Anthony Campbell, defensive end Jalan Gaines and guard Sataoa Laumea

Thanks John, appreciate the input!!! I've been expecting that to be reported as his 'injury' had not seemed to be very serious. His likely specialty use had been taken in all probability by the rookie QB at any rate.

USA Today has had the most dependable transaction report lately. It's become my first "goto".

I would not be surprised if our rookie QB wracks up a bunch of bonus money if he does any good with his special playbook.

Rather clearly the team thinks he's healthy again and wishes to keep his talent here.

Great News!!!

Excellent. I know a bunch of folks will be screaming for Cross...but IMO, he's signed the extra year and need to see if he's worth the $$ he'll command.
