No. Are you joking?
No im not joking. I’ve watched him throw the ball up for grabs. I’ve watched him disappear for segments of the game and then bring back with his running ability. I’ve watched him make very genoesque throws with out looking on a hope and a prayer. He’s ultra strong which in a way is a gadget and sometimes watching him I think his best quality is leadership. There was a time when it wasn’t clear he was gonna be a good quarterback. His team is so well rounded he is enough. Like old Seahawks. I’d say he’s a better leader than Russ ever was and he doesn’t try to do too much but I still think of him as a running quarterback with a good deep ball. My point is Jalen milroe could be as dangerous as Jalen hurts as far as we know. Jalen hurts is a gadget quarterback that learned how to be productive and manage the game. It’s only a gadget if you run him on and off the field. That’s not even a real quarterback. We’ll see. You clearly can’t stand Jalen milroe but I won’t call him a gadget yet

Hard to take someone's argument seriously when they resort to this stuff. It's not a personal thing, I just don't think he's a good QB prospect. I've been consistent on that since well before the draft.
Your stance on milroe makes it hard to take your’s without a grain of salt, but 99% of the time I enjoy and respect your posts. Definitely not trying to be personal maybe I shouldn’t of said “you clearly can’t stand him” I was just referencing your previous stuff

I can't remember who said it but the best description I have heard about Milroe as an NFL QB is "some assembly required"

The list of 3rd round (or later) QB's who became successful "starters" in the NFL is limited. So you're playing the safe bet, along with Rat. Milroe will not have an impact this year unless the injury bug bites us. I'm not pulling anybody's card until year 3. That's when we'll most likely know, in my humble opinion.

I understand why you'd think that. I have been very negative towards him, although some of it is exaggerating for effect, like referring to the pick as an "Al Davis Memorial Late-Stage Dementia Special".

I just don't like when I see people dismiss arguments with "you just don't like him" or something like that. It makes it sound like I have a personal vendetta against him and am invested in seeing him fail. When I talk about not wanting Will Howard, that's a character thing, but I really have nothing against Milroe the person. He's clearly very intelligent. There was a rumor going around at one point that he was a locker room cancer to the point where it played into Saban's sudden retirement, but that rumor hasn't been corroborated by anyone, not even anonymously, so I'm cool tossing that one aside. He seems fine.

I just don't see it with him as a player. I watched him a ton last year, and I feel like everyone has this disease where they think they were watching someone else. He was awful. I've expressed a number of times on here that I think the third round is the absolute worst place to take a QB; same extremely low hit rate as the late rounds combined with missed opportunity on other contributors, plus it isn't difficult to snag a more cost-effective backup. For me to want one in the third, it needs to be someone like a first-round caliber player who slipped through the cracks for some odd reason, and to me, that isn't Milroe.

If people want to keep receipts, that's fine. Hell, it's not even necessary, because I'll be the first to tell everyone how wrong I was. We need a long-term QB; I don't WANT to be right about this.

This is the argument right here. It's a hard one to dispute. Personally, I'm in the "take your flyer bet in the third round instead of waiting until later rounds" camp, but the reality is, you are more likely to be right than me. I'm a fan of the pick because I'm a fan of the philosophy.

Ultimately, Milroe's success or failure won't invalidate either of our arguments. It would take years of data to even begin to support one side or the other, but I have to admit the best data we have supports your philosophy.

He'd be a great story. I know I'd be laughing my ass off if Geno gets usurped by some small-school sixth rounder the Raiders probably took because Brady thinks he can be their Edelman.
I like the way you think.

I'm certainly not suggesting he will displace Geno, though that would be totally hilarious, and typical for Tommy, but I do think the protestations that Raiders are overplaying their "he will be a receiver" hand. Else, why did they take Cam Miller two picks later. Cam isn't the athlete Mellott is, so they are clearly looking for a quality backup. If Mellott can serve as a serviceable backup, while also providing help as a receiver, I think that makes it more likely he will stick.
