In a lofty place tanglin' with Satan over history.
To people already whining about this: What about this deal makes you believe he is the future? $33 million a year is less than we offered Geno. This screams stopgap. My hope, which was the same when Geno was here, is they draft a young QB and let him sit and learn. I don't want a good rookie thrown to the wolves. I like this deal.
Good point. I guess this is the best we can do with the cards we've been dealt. I have more important sjit to whine about, I suppose.

One thing to bear in mind….since he has worked with kubiak, kubiak was probably consulted on the signing

I'll reserve judgement until I see him running the offense.

At the very least, it's something NEW. Anything is better than rolling out with a known quantity that you know can't cut it (Geno).

I hate this move! People talking about how cheap his deal is...I CAN BUY A FRESH TURD AT A CHEAP RATE... IT DOESN'T MAKE IT A SMART BUY!!

Check his life time stats, the dude is a 1 year wonder and the Seahawks got suckered!

THEY FELL FOR THE OLDEST TRICK IN THE BOOK! "Oh, it's a contract year, I better ball out for that cash....then I can go back to my normal lackluster performance".

Before last year, his TD/INT Ratio was 63 to 56...how did the NFL keep giving him a chance?

That being said, I hope he does well.

From one stopgap to another stopgap. Not happy but understand it. He's cheaper and younger until the QBotF comes along.
Right now, San Darnold is the QB of the future. The future being the 2025 season. Beyond that, any future QB could still be in HS for all we know or looking forward to his freshman year of college football. A Darnold in the hand is worth two QBs in the bush. Or something like that.

Wondering if JSN will ask for a trade now.

We just signed a guy that needs a special helmet to fit his head, throws a football like it's a sho put , and at the halfway point of his career, has had 1 season that wasn't a disaster.

If McDonald came right out and said, " settle down Hotchy. We're still gonna draft a QB in the 1st 3 rounds. Flynn, I mean Dalton, I mean Darnold is just a bridge" I'd be able to sleep tonight. My fear is they believe in him as the face of the franchise going forward.
That is scary if true and they ignore drafting a QB. Very scary indeed.

Playing off an interesting stat I saw the other day, if Darnold doesn't do something stupid to get himself kicked off the roster before week 1, it'll be the first time in over 20 years that the Seahawks have had a quarterback on their active roster who was drafted in the first round. Our last was Trent Dilfer in 2004. Not only is that the longest drought in the league, it's not even close. Looking through other teams, the next-longest one I can find is the Raiders, who havn't had one since Marcus Mariota was a backup for them in 2021. Everyone else has had one in the past three seasons.

We signed Paxton Lynch at one point, but he never made team. He and Geno competed for the backup job to Russ and actually got cut on the same day. Geno was later brought back.

Well the Seahawks gave Geno another chance after the NFL kinda gave him chances by keeping him around.

And if you look at Geno’s stats last year, can’t say they’re much better than Darnold’s prior to his year with the Vikings. There are plenty of QBs who given the chance finally succeed and plenty who continue to flop.

I like the move because of the salary difference. I still would have preferred Fields or take a chance on Trey Lance because of our line situation.

I'm just concerned about the WR corps. I like Cody White to make strides forward. But, are the guys beyond JSN going to be enough to resemble the weapons he had in Minnesota?
i’ve been waiting for dareke young to get a fresh look. hopefully he can produce like many believe he’s capable of.
