Yeah, at this point in terms of what we get from the QB position on the field... pretty much a lateral move. But, with those other factors, let's hope it works out for the better. I think we're all pretty familiar with what we're getting. Got a vet to assume king of the hill for now. If Jaxson Dart is still available in 3rd round maybe see if we take a chance on a Flynn/Wilson repeat.

This mandates fixing the offensive line. Darnold will get murdered in the NFC West if we roll out the 2024 turnstile squad.
There’s nothing technical about the fact that he has not signed the deal. He can’t signed and he hasn’t signed. Those saying he signed are 100% wrong.

Significant upgrade from Geno, while being cheaper and seven years younger.

Showed tremendous growth last year, no reason he shouldn't be able to keep it going. JSN will be awesome for him, hope we can upgrade the other weapons well.

Actually this is a very good deal. Seahawks can cut him after a year, and if he is good, we have a cheap QB for a couple of years. 10M/Y cheaper than Geno, so good move even if its a lateral one.

I still hope we get a rookie too.

This is exactly right. We are not locked into Darnold if it isnt working.

Move on from this. People get it and it’s not really worth badgering over and over about

I don’t know. I haven’t followed him since USC. I thought he sucked there. Had a nice year last year.

Darnold is mobile enough. He certainly isn't a statue. Not sure where that take is coming from.

Totally agree. I would include leadership in that upgrade over Geno. No more sideline pout-fests when things aren't going well.

So, not exactly thrilled with Darnold, but makes sense with new OC Kubiak.
At least they can focus the draft on fixing the problems on Oline and needs in front 7 of Defense.
I'm just concerned about the WR corps. I like Cody White to make strides forward. But, are the guys beyond JSN going to be enough to resemble the weapons he had in Minnesota?
Darold drove me nuts in those last 2 games holding the ball way too long, locking on instead of finding open guy. Hopefully he continues to learn and progress his mental aspect of the game.
$55 million guaranteed, $37 point something year one. $100.5 mil

If people got it they wouldn’t say he was signed. There’s a difference. If it’s not corrected then people continue to misunderstand how it works. Discussing how it works is part of what we do here. If you font want to discuss it then stop discussing it

Lateral move or not, this is a good move. At worst, if he is basically Geno 2.0, we are still better off in the fact that it can essentially be looked at like a trade. The Seahawks traded Geno Smith and got Sam Darnold and a 3rd round pick. Way better scenario than having to roll out Howell or a rookie.
This move doesn’t change the need to add a viable QB in the draft. It just changes the need to probably over draft a rookie QB in this QB starved draft. Geno essentially had two years left on his Seahawks contract. This signing adds an extra year to QB control.
Next years draft is reportedly a better QB draft than this years draft. Signing Darnold clearly makes drafting a QB in this draft a low priority.
Build up the line and see what Darnold can do or get it ready for a rookie to come in in 26 or 27 to succeed.

Franchise QBs are not available this year’s free agency or draft. We have a cheaper young bridge gap QB

Imagine if we’d signed him a year ago, it would have been Armageddon 2.0 on here

Good move at the price but I don’t expect any great things from him

For those that strapped him to their whipping post already, he is younger and is going to be playing close to ten years, bridge not really. Cost is effective for the team. Playoffs last year was an education, games are different in the playoffs and he learned something, how he responds next time is the key. Also very very few QB's can be effective under the conditions of that game type pressure. Just wanted to point out, Lady Erin and Frankenforehead both looked really below average when we had a line that could play like the Eagles last year with our secondary.
