I don't give crap what people about Smith. Dude is not worth anything near 45mil per year, he just not. I don't even think Smith is an average QB. I am a Smith hater. I think the dude is garbage. We can do better.
You can almost always do better than what you currently have. The question is, can we do better RIGHT NOW? Highly doubtful. But I seriously doubt the Seahawks are willing to go anywhere near $45 mil for Geno. I feel people get worried over nothing. He's still under contract next year and 35. He wants to sit out for more money he puts himself in a losing situation. If we do any kind of extension the cap hit will go down not up and we will give ourselves manageable outs starting next year. Either way, 2025 is likely his last year in Seattle.

Geno will very likely play the final year of his contract and then the team will likely move on because of age. Howell is the default future QB. He is younger than Penix/Nix so there is room for him to grow but his tenure at Seattle isn't exactly set in stone. He didn't put up much of a challenge against Geno last pre-season and that is definitely a mark against him. This upcoming camp, Howell will really have to show out to be in the long-term plans. We won't know anything more than that until the draft and free agency play out. Even then, it might be 2026 before a definitive QB move is made.

The team is overinvested at edge. Time to move on from Jones and Nwosu. They are really good players, but they are expensive, and the team has capable youth at the position. The same can be said for tight end. Pharaoh Brown is underwhelming as his inexplicable penalties come at the worst possible time. Noah Fant is a really good player, but Barner is bigger and more physical which is the direction that the offense wants to go. The left guard, Thomlinson, is finished as a Seahawk because the team will prioritize the position in the off season.

There will be cap room to play Geno's final season, and the team will get younger at Tight End and Edge. I think it was telling that they signed Sherriff to a futures contract.

No, he won't sit out, if a team is willing to give him a three year contract, he will fight real hard

Well since he's not going anywhere because he's still a Seattle Seahawk through next year where do you see that being? He's not getting a 3 year deal here

If a team out there sees Geno as GeYES, and willing to trade for him with understanding of a new contract once traded. I have no doubt Geno will fight for that opportunity, I don't think he enjoys being the GeNO in Seattle.

I might be changing my mind on Geno. He IS a Top 5 QB and IS worth 50+ million a year!!! He needs to hold out and get his $$$$!

His agent should hire KEasley to prove that every single loss, every single interception and every single incompletion and sack IS NOT HIS FAULT. If only he had a different OC and a better line and better RBs, TEs and WRs he would have a perfect passer rating, an undefeated record and multiple Super Bowl wins!!,

Hold out Geno! You are THE BEST. Don’t let anyone tell you different. $50 million or bust!

These are mostly extension values, which are different to real contract values. For example in reality Lawrence is being paid:

2024: $39M
2025: $37.5M
2026: $37.5M
2027: $41.5M
2028: $46.5M
2029: $50.5M
2030: $53.841M

In no real sense is Lawrence being paid $55M per season, (but it makes a nice headline).

Any NFL player's market value is dictated by what the market pays similar players, it's like buying a house. You and I, don't own an NFL franchise or work as GM for any franchisees, our opinions are just that, an irrelevant talk.

Yeah, but if you don't like the house then it really doesn't matter what the "market value" is for the house.

And if it's a fixer upper like Geno you don't pay market rate. No, that is not an insult. If I wanted to insult Geno I'd call him a "tear down"

Richard Sherman said it well in a recent podcast: You can fix red zone issues, but you do not just toss aside a 70% completion rate.

And again, that was with 4,000 yards and no help from a run game, O-line, or offensive coordinator.

That doesn't make Geno as good as Mahomes or Allen, but the point stands - Geno has played well enough that Seattle is in a bind.

He’s not a fixer upper. He’s low income housing. There’s no fixing this rambler you just gotta live with it or tear it down

If any team comes knocking on our door to trade Geno, Schneider may be in a corner. Geno will force Schneider's hands on either a long-term contract or a trade. We know Geno's priority, long-term contract above all else, he even saved his body for that contract.
Saved his elite processing speed as well musta I bet

Begs the question - if we had a run game would his numbers be as good?
