This has been my personal favorite potential candidate league-wide in the "no playcall experience" department, and that dates back to prior to Mac's hiring. What a friggin' unit this guy coaches.

Pair him with a pass coordinator like maybe a Byron Leftwich and we could have something really fun.

Don't know much about him other than he's obviously doing a good job with Detroilets O-Line. I'd prefer someone, in principle, like Doug Peterson who has not only play calling experience but head coaching as well. But, whoever they choose will be the best candidate for whatever their reasoning is so I'm good with it.

I would be the most boring coach ever. I prefer a ridiculous amount of running. Pound the f out of the rock, all day. And don't just give up early in the game. Then when they load the box to stop the run......go up top.

If he can make our O line look like the Lions O line and run with the same type of success and mix in run and pass I'm all for it. I wonder if he would come as sort of a package deal with Mark Brunell which would be huge IMHO.

Not sure how I feel about it. Yes, he has success with Detroits OL, but unlike our OL, they have talent. I'm sure he would be an improvement from what we had in that regard, but another guy with no OC experience? I don't know.

You gotta' get your first OC job at some point. Why not here? Every OC in the history of the league was a first time OC at some point. At least he has a lot of NFL experience. He's also been working with Ben Johnson. That HAS to be a huge plus.

Paint me intrigued. Part of the reason I like Stenavich is because of his OL background. I prefer guys who can either develop QB's or develop O-Linemen. From the little I just read, players and fans love him, and he's a very integral part of their overall scheme, he studies defenses a lot, and players come to him to add plays to the playbook.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if Detroit wants to promote him to OC after their season is over and he chose to stay. Or maybe Ben Johnson or Aaron Glenn will offer him an OC position wherever they go.

-- Yeah, remember when Shawn McVay was the OC for a team then went to another team to be an OC. Or Ben Johnson.

NO !! Neither does anyone else.

-- There are not a lot of lateral moves in the NFL. You aren't going to whisk away a great OC without making him a head coach, or there is some hook for him, like coming home or something like that. The trick is to find a good staff, that has worked together for a while, and try to pry away one of their best coaches. Or, as I heard we are talking to Thomas Brown from the Bears, an entire staff is fired, and you can pick up one of their better assets.

-- Point being, I wouldn't stress over a lack of previous playcalling experience. Grubb called plays in college, how did that work out?
