I think maybe lots of observers mistake CB pulling off a receiver as 'loafing" when it is by design due to expectations of oncoming over the top coverage which changes CB assignment duty.
My biggest gripe about Riq is his lack of enthusiasm for stopping the run. He seems to avoid direct contact, which is often the best way to get hurt.

Um, I want players who play hard but not stupid. I gave Brisker as an example of a guy who goes beyond “hard”. He recklessly throws his body into tackles, and knocks himself out as often as the other guy. He’s a damn good player, but not helping us when he’s always on injury report. That’s been the story of his career. This is what I’m saying with Riq. He wouldn’t survive long playing like Brisker.

Not if you believe in statistics. My favorite statistic for pass defense is the percentage of completions allowed when targeted. Anything under 60% is excellent. Around 62-63% is “meh” average, and over 65% is not very good.

Jaylon Johnson is the Bears Pro Bowl corner with $76 million contract extension. He is CONSISTENTLY under 60% on that stat. Offensive coordinators all target our other corner for the last 3 years, because they don’t want to mess with Johnson.

You can reject PFF scoring if you like but your method is not the only way to judge performance. Of course there are stats built into these PFF scores so to assume they aren't is misguided. YAC wouldn't be a stat used to evaluate CBs. Things like PBUs, INTs, tackles, sacks, etc. are absolutely part of those scores and then some. What PFF and your stats only method don't account for are things like leadership and attitude, which I would argue are almost as important.
