🏈 THE ORION REPORT

Week 6

Seahawks 20, Jaguars 12

When grit outlasts doubt Seattle finds its edge.

OPENING TAKE

This wasn’t about flash or fireworks it was about resolve.

the Seahawks delivered the kind of performance that good teams build on. They bent early, adjusted late, and found the right plays when it mattered most. A 20–12 road win isn’t headline grabbing, but it’s the sort of victory that defines a locker room gritty, methodical, and earned.

Seattle needed this one. Coming off a tough Week 5 loss, they responded with discipline and heart, showing that Mike Macdonald’s vision can translate beyond theory.

THE TURNING POINT

“Defense held firm. Offense landed the punch.”

Midway through the third, Seattle finally flipped the script. On 3rd and long, Sam Darnold ripped a deep sideline shot to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who toe tapped for a chunk gain that flipped field position and the game’s energy. The drive ended in points and the lead, and from there the defense took over tight coverage, timely pressure, and drive killing sacks that kept Jacksonville chasing the rest of the way.

From that moment, the Seahawks never looked back. Jacksonville wouldn’t reach Seattle territory again until the final two minutes and by then, the defense had already shut the door.

TEAM STATS

Category. SEA JAX

Total Yards. 346 273

Passing Yards. 286 214

Completion %. 59.3 64.3

Rushing Yards. 60 59

Rush Attempts 26 19

Yards per Carry 2.3.

Sacks Allowed. 1 7

CONTRIBUTORS SEATTLE

Sam Darnold (QB): 14 of 23, 213 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT
Jaxon Smith-Njigba (WR) 8receptions, 162 yards, 1 TD
Cooper Kupp (WR) 3 receptions, 58 yards TD
Kenneth Walker III (RB) 10 carries, 34 yards,
Zach Charbonnet (RB) 9 carries, 25 yards
Defense Byron Murphy II opened the game with a sack Leonard Williams and Uchenna Nwosu combined for another. Coverage tightened late, forcing two fourth quarter punts that sealed the win.

PLAYER OF THE GAME (SEAHAWKS)

Jaxon Smith-Njigba WR

8 receptions | 162 yards | 1 TD

The breakout arrived. JSN’s deep connection flipped field position, fueled the go ahead drive, and set the tone for the offense. His chemistry with Darnold is growing by the week the next phase of Seattle’s passing evolution is already underway.

THE PROBLEM AREA

Run game rhythm and pass protection.

Seattle averaged just 3.1 yards per carry and allowed three sacks signs that the offensive line still hasn’t found full sync. Too many second and long situations kept Darnold under pressure and limited playaction options.

Defensively, tackling angles on outside runs remain inconsistent. The fundamentals are improving, but the details still separate “good” from “great.”

WHAT IT MEANS GOING FORWARD

At 4–2, Seattle is right back in the NFC mix.

The offense has its identity a poised quarterback, a dynamic young receiver, and a balanced playbook that can stretch the field. The defense? It’s beginning to find its personality not flashy, but fierce when it needs to be.

Macdonald’s blueprint is taking shape. The challenge now is turning resilience into rhythm sustaining energy week to week, drive to drive.

THE FINAL WORD

“You don’t always win by explosion sometimes you win by evolution.”

Sunday wasn’t perfect, but it was progress. Seattle stood tall , corrected its mistakes, and out executed a talented Jaguars team on the road. That’s how you build a contender one fight, one finish, one belief at a time.

Their stats are inaccurate. Walker for a TD and not Kupp? JSN had a lot more receiving yards than that.
