The Seahawks had 3 potential TE1s, (or at least 2 plus Dissly). Players want to be paid their market value regardless of where they are on their current team's depth chart. Spotrac estimated Parkinson's value at $6.6M per season. The Rams guaranteed him $7.75M for 2 years knowing that their 2023 starter would be unlikely to return from injury for 2024. Even if the Seahawks had matched the Rams offer he may have preferred a starting role to being behind Fant. It's just business.
Makes a lot of sense. I liked the idea of Parkinson , his height etc. and always wanted him to be a bigger part of the offense. Seattle obviously had their plan regarding what they wanted in a TE . I can understand why a player would do what he did.
Of course now that he isn't on the Seahawks, and yet worse on the Rams ( I think)
