Sox give Devers $315M. Prob wanted to go big somehow but affording all Betts, Xander, and Devers probably wasn't realistic even in this crazy market.

Mariners have done almost nothing, this has to be one of the worst off seasons for them.

Anyone who spends a penny on the mariners in 2023 needs to have their head examined, and this from someone who was gunna buy a game pkg this year if they spent some money.

AJ Pollock their big RH bat addition. What a joke. These guys are obsessed with platoon players.

Well, they had to get a Kelenic replacement. The dude isn't ready yet he's a career .180 hitter in the big leagues.

There's still a lot to be excited about with the M's. Wish they had gotten another impact/solid player/hitter or two, but they played it cheap that way. They had the money to do it no matter what they said.

But they've got a great starting staff, a real good bullpen, especially if Brash starts burning bright, and some consistency running throughout the organization. If they don't get bit by the injury bug, no reason to think they can't return to the playoffs, maybe even give the Astros a divisional scare.

There's reason for hope.

Hoping the angels are trash again and Trout requests trade. Why not try and get him a ring here?

Looks pretty weak. To no surprise, the FO is showing to be cheap. While I didn’t expect us to dish out one of these huge contracts, we are basically standing pat.

We’ve slightly upgraded at 2B with Wong replacing Frazier.

Teoscar for Haniger feels like a wash.

We still have not addressed corner OF.

They never went after a DH, and they should, with us losing Santana. Even with him that was a position that needed to be improved.

The playoffs showed that we needed at least one more really good bullpen arm.

Overall it feels like a very underwhelming offseason, primarily because the FO doesn’t want to spend. They’d rather trade assets than sign free agents.
Hanigar for Hernandez is definitely a wash, except the M's let Hanigar walk for nothing instead of bringing him back along with acquiring Hernandez. They gave up an important bullpen asset in Swanson to get Hernandez. Swanson has not been replaced. Wong was acquired for two pieces of trash in Winker/Toro & this guy is supposed to be the savior? Wong will absolutely not be a significant upgrade over Frazier. The 2023 Seattle Mariners are not significantly more talented than the end of 2022. Am I going to watch the games when I have the time? Yes, basically just to follow the studs in the rotation (Castillo, Ray, Gilbert, Kirby), will I watch for the offense or when Marco starts? No. Do I expect the M's to actually be a real threat for the World Series? No. Only way that happens is if this starting rotation is legendary.
