Have to? What does that mean? Why do we have to take him? What dire irreversible consequence results from not taking Stroud if he is there at 5?
We sign Geno to a bid deal and he plays like he did during the second half of the season for the rest of his contract. If this happens, we have a bad QB on a big deal and we didn't draft a QB of the future. Pete Carroll limps toward the end of his career and the Hawks are stuck in QB hell. Not irreversible, but very hard to reverse.

Bryce Young stats: 162.4 QB rating, 75-12 TD-INT, 8.7 ypa, 8,035 pass yards, 7 rush TDs
C.J. Stroud stats: 182.0 QB rating, 81-12 TD-INT, 9.8 ypa, 7,775 pass yards, 69.3% completion
Will Levis stats: 145.6 QB rating, 46-25 TD-INT, 5,876 pass yards, 64.9% completion, 8.0 ypa
Anthony Richardson stats (passing): 133.6 QB rating, 24-15 TD-INT, 3,105 pass yards

I think these stats pretty much speak for themselves. It is tougher to explain why Young is ranked higher than Stroud than why Levis is ranked higher than Richardson. Both have had issues taking care of the ball.

If we do go defensive with our #5 pick, there is a chance Hendon Hooker will be on the board at 20.
Hendon Hooker stats (2021-’22): 178.3 QB rating, 58-5 TD-INT, 6,080 pass yards
I trust Schneider, get us a QB if one is right for that 5 pick. Either that or a monster pass rusher, if none are available trade down, or trade the 5 for an 8...something in that range. Tell PC to go home and retire though...lol

I voted for something that I want to happen more than what I think will happen. One of AZ/CHI trade out of the top five with a team that wants a QB which in turn will give us either Carter / Anderson. They take Anderson, we get Carter.

They paid him after his rookie deal. When he could still run. That was eons ago. Before he turned into a pudgy movie star whose notorious spin move evolved from miraculous escapes to just another sack. Pete and John regretted that contract and moved on when the time came to renew. If Denver had it all over to do again, they......wouldn't.

Wilson got two big contract extensions from the Seahawks, not just one. The one you described happened in 2015, but Wilson got another in 2019. So if Carroll and Schneider regretted the extension they gave Wilson in 2015, why did they give him an even-bigger one in 2019? And they did not "move on when the time came to renew." They renewed at $35M APY, with $70M guaranteed, and paid out $105M of the $140M of the contract before getting rid of Wilson.

I agree with you. Schnieder and Carroll were absolutely right. Wilson was not worth keeping. I agree with you on another point you made. They know more about the position than the Denver brass does. That is why the trade is called the fleecing of the century. Quarter billion dollars, two first and second round picks, two starters and a backup QB in trade for the 29th ranked QBR. The surprise story of the season. Who in their right mind would think that this "anonymous gurus are dead wrong about Wilson" argument is defendable?

The possible compensation of $245M in Wilson's extension from the Broncos did not go to the Seahawks, and in fact had nothing at all to do with them. That was between the Broncos and Team 3.

You're right on the main fact - that the Seahawks made the right move by trading Wilson.

I think what everybody is overlooking is that this offense we have is good enough to win the Superb Owl. With this many high picks we have the chance of a lifetime to be right back in the mix as contenders. # 5 and #20 need to be rockstars. We dont need to tinker with the offense, No tiny college under the radar developmental types, day one starters. Defebse defense defense.

Thanks for digging deeper. I'll admit what I got wrong. Openly.

But I will take credit for what I got right, and the "spirit" of my intent remains fully intact. When Wilson got fat and couldn't evade sacks anymore, the Seahawks regretted extending him. The Seahawks would never entertain signing him to a large contract again. They had to somewhat muffle the noise to retain trade value. They did this brilliantly to the point where some Seattle fans felt deceived and betrayed after Wilson was dealt away. Many still believed he had MVP potential. A necessary facade perpetuated by the front office that landed them two firsts, two seconds, two starters, and a high potential backup QB.

Obviously, the readers are entitled to truth and clarification, and I don't believe your post was weaponized beyond that point, but let's not detract from the main point I was trying to get across with a well-earned "gotcha" trophy achieved from my erroneous mistake.

I disagree. Our red zone scoring was abysmal.

I could chalk that up to lack of starting experience on Geno and the Oline. Something fixable. Good enough to win.

Yep, can't just settle for FG's over and over again and expect to have legit success. Some of that lies on the QB, period.
But you make a good point about the line, IF they get a legit Center and add a solid guard, the pass blocking should be much improved.

The team seriously needs a power runner that can break tackles. They have the home run hitter (Walker III) for a changeup, and he probably should be groomed for passing downs and long yardage situations, but they need a brute for the redzone. A stiff arm champion. The Red Zone is definitely not the area to routinely bounce outside every time you see the opposite color. It is the area where you make one cut, get low, pump the legs like a steam engine, and have the body mass to move people.
In short, the team has the red zone capability for the passing game. Big receiver, tight end depth. The opposing defenses know that and game plan specifically for that. Because they don't fear the Red Zone running game. Play action will not work in the Red Zone without a tackle breaking running back to make them honor the action.

Love Walker but, I agree. We need someone to split carries and get that guaranteed (as much as “guaranteed” is in this league) 3rd and 2 power rush.

5th and beyond, I’d hope to see something happen.

If you think that this offense that we have is enough, you are very mistaken.

Seattle won't be able to beat the 49ers with the offense that they have.

Everyone keeps saying this, but it's not true.

Extending Geno doesn't preclude us from drafting a QB. These are not mutually exclusive things. If Pete and John fall in love with a QB in the draft? They've got the most draft capital they've ever had to get him.
