Hypothetically these are your two choice at 5 who are you going with and why?

They both should be fantastic players. I would personally take Wilson over Murphy simply because I am an FSU fan and don't particularly like Clemson players. Yes. It is immature and bias, but I own that. If the Seahawks select Murphy, I will of course let it go. It took me a while to let go of us drafting Darrell Jackson, but I got there eventually.

Wilson and it isnt close for me. Murphy has a ton of potential but a couple of red flags that concern me.

Low pressure rate even with good talent around him and not a ton of production. Wasn’t bad but not sure he’s flashed enough to be a top 5 pick. I’m not saying I hate if he’s the pick just not as high on him as I originally was.

Both guys are freaks! I think Murphy will show off his athleticism in the NFL combine, but for me he falls into the same boat as Jalen Carter. Both were gifted athletically top recruits, surrounded by talent, and still were not dominate/didn't develop. So, for me I would lean towards Tyree Wilson, dude has length for days, and plays stronger that his size. For me it's more Carter or Wilson...that decision would have to be decided in individual team meetings.

I've read that Murphy is more of a traditional DE in a similar mold to someone like Chris Long. In contrast, Wilson is more in the Arik Armstead/Calais Cambell mold of guys with so much length that they can play anywhere.

I lean toward Wilson for that reason.

I'm probably oversimplifying this and I admittedly don't watch lot of college football, but from everything Ive seen and read on these 2 guys, I don't know if I'd be thrilled with either at #5. It seems to me there are 3 stud QBs in this draft and 2 stud D linemen. I'd like come away with one of those 5, preferably Carter or Anderson. After those 2, there does seem to be a drop-off. So, if they are both gone, I'd like to see us take the best available among Young, Levis, or Stroud. If we do end up taking Murphy or Wilson, I hope we roll the dice with Richardson with our 2nd pick. Geno or not, I think we need to draft a QB this year.

Both Tyree Wilson and Myles Murphy look solid. Derick Hall is another Edge rusher that may be a solid pick in the late 1st or early 2nd round -

Hall for us would be a OLB, whereas Wilson and Murphy would be DEs on our 3-4 defense. But yes, Hall is a good rush OLB for us to consider in the draft.

Hard to truly do a mock draft not knowing how FA works out? Plus I hope we go back to a 4-3 defense.

At 21 years old, Murphy is two years younger; how different will he look with 2 years to learn and grow into his body? I've heard that Wilson has a great motor but why did it take until this year to show up?

You only do that if you're in love with one of those prospects. Just because they're ranked highly in this draft class doesn't mean they're good. Look at last year's class.

An interesting question, and I decided to look it up. Their local rag seems to think the defensive coordinator change had a lot to do with his improved play.

I am 100% with you. The man is disruptive. But he looks like he's maybe 270. So there's definitely a lot of risk in taking him early in the draft.
Thing is he would not be playing NT for us. He'd be playing 4i or 5T, so 280, which is his listed weight, would be perfect.

I think Klancey is going to be a star. Take him and figure out how to get the most out
Of him.
